Surface Book Performance Base Novels & Stories

The Surface Book 2 was a beast when it first came out, but gaming in 2024? That's a tricky one. I've been using mine for a mix of work and play, and while it handles older titles like 'The Witcher 3' or 'Skyrim' decently on medium settings, newer AAA games really push its limits. The GTX 1060 in the higher-end models struggles with ray tracing and high refresh rates, which are becoming more common. Modding games is also hit-or-miss—some lighter indie titles run flawlessly, but anything demanding like 'Cyberpunk 2077' or 'Starfield' will chug unless you dial everything down to low.

That said, the versatility is still a huge win. The detachable screen is fantastic for casual gaming in tablet mode, and the keyboard remains one of the best for late-night typing sessions. If you’re mostly into esports titles like 'Valorant' or 'League of Legends,' it’s perfectly fine, but for cutting-edge stuff, you’d need to temper expectations. I’ve ended up streaming from my desktop more often than relying on the Book 2 for heavy gaming—it’s just not built to keep up with 2024’s demands without compromises.
