Like she might just float away if she was not careful. Her phone buzzed in her palm. Avery looked down at the screen. A message notification glowed against the black background. Her heart stopped when she saw the name: Liam. She opened the message with trembling fingers. The words appeared on the screen like a slap across her face: "Sweetheart, why can't you just keep your little ass somewhere?" The world tilted sideways. Avery stared at the message until the letters blurred together. Her eyes filled with tears she had been holding back all day. All week. All month, really, since everything started falling apart.
