Reclaiming Her Love
For a few minutes, we just ate and talked about random things, the hospital gossip, some ridiculous thing one of the interns had said, and the funny way Logan kept showing up at the oddest times lately.
But then, I noticed something. Sylvia’s smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. Her laughter felt a little off, a little too light. I frowned, putting down my fork.
“Alright,” I said, crossing my arms. “What’s going on?”
She blinked innocently. “What do you mean?”
“Don’t ‘what do you mean’ me. You’ve been quiet since you got here, and you keep zoning out. Talk to me, Sylvia.”
She sighed softly, staring at the plate for a moment before looking back up. “Violet… I’m quitting.”
