She finished up with lining her eyes, applying mascara to her lashes, and lipstick to her lips. She smiled when she saw Dennis already seated by the table as she made it down the stairs. "Thanks." She said and moved to serve him.

And because I have nothing to lose.” Helena leaned forward. “That’s the spirit.” The pianist nodded from the corner, and the instrumental began. Tessy closed her eyes and launched into her song — soulful, rich, and full of unspoken stories. Her voice trembled at first, then soared, filling the room like a promise. When she finished, the hall was silent for a breath. Greg stood and clapped. “That was everything, Tess.”

She bit her lip and reluctantly nodded. I smiled and thanked her as I positioned near the microphone. “Mic test, mic test.” I started. “Hello everyone. This is Nero Nicholas Bennett of the Beach House Chain of Resorts and Hotels. I am speaking as of the moment to call the attention of my girlfriend, Miss Kinsella Annabelle Sloane. I looked at them, confused, but something in their eyes reassured me. Maybe it was the kindness in their faces, the way they weren’t pushing me to remember. It didn’t feel like a choice, but somehow, I nodded. "Sasha," I repeated, the name feeling unfamiliar, yet strangely comforting. "I guess I’ll be Sasha then."
