I gave her a steady, reassuring look. Slowly, she picked up a piece of meat and tested it carefully. My eyes narrowed. I had Amara’s meal prepared specially by my most trusted cook. I couldn’t afford any mistakes. Yet watching her hesitation, a chill crawled up my spine, as if the darkness I sensed earlier had followed us here, hiding among the laughter and clinking of goblets. Darkness filled the room which was getting hot and suffocating, she couldn't see anything, not even her own body. "I'm going to die in here."

“We will not give in to the darkness!” The light pulsed around them, pushing back against the shadows.
