My bones were quickly healing, and I was ready to shove him away. His face was an inch away from mine now, fangs out and hissing. I didn’t know what to do. I had never seen a vampire like this before. He lowered his head and scented my neck. I trembled with fear and anticipation for what I didn’t know.

I looked at each of them slowly. “What if I told you there was another way?” The youngest blinked. “What way?” “Leave.” They stared at me like I’d just suggested flying. “You’re joking,” one of the others said. “I’m not.” I leaned forward slightly. “Join us.” The tallest wolf narrowed his eyes. “Us?” “We have wolves,” I said. “And vampires.” That got their full attention. “Vampires?” the seventeen-year-old blurted. “You’re fighting with vampires?”

The last time he fed and took too much from someone, was when he was still considered a young vampire and learning how to control his hunger when he fed. Even as a baby, a vampire still needs blood. But when you feed, you're simply feeding and it stays that way until you turn 16. There's no pleasurable sensation before that. But once you turns 16, the way it feels when you feed completely changes. Kind of like a werewolf gets its wolf at 16, a vampire gets its venom and feeding becomes sexual, unless trying to kill.
