Finally, after dragging my gaze away from the rocker, I'd made my way toward the front desk to arrange for the delivery of the furniture. Before I'd been able to make it out of the shopping center, though, I'd remembered I needed to stop at Bed, Bath & Beyond. There, I'd picked out sheets and pillowcases for my new bed, and a suede comforter that begged a person to climb beneath its downy softness. I'd also chosen a set of towels and washcloths, a shower curtain and liner, plus matching accessories.

Benny pulls the door closed behind us, remaining outside, once again, as I take in my new surroundings. The large room is so bright and white that it's almost blinding! A bed, bigger than any bed I've ever seen, hugs a wall on the right. It's frame is made of shimmering gold. White, linen curtains hang from its bars above. The duvet, sheets, and pillows are all white as well, minus one pillow with intricate gold embroidery stitched onto it . A white fur rug lay on the floor, and protrudes from the foot of the bed, where a gold bench, donning white cushions atop it.

It would probably make things a lot easier if I was one. I pull the covers back on the bed and see that the sheets are stained yellow in spots, there are black spots -that I don’t think are a pattern on the fabric-, some redish brown… NOPE! I’m done. I should have just paid the extra $60 and gone to the Travel place down the road. I don’t have the money to pay for a second room for the night so… the car it is! I don’t bother taking a pillow or blanket with me, probably infested with bedbugs or something. I wretch at the thought.

Off to the side is a lounging area with its own sofas in grey with various cushions and throws in different shades of blue. A huge flat screen television covers the wall directly opposite the bed. There’s a door slightly ajar that leads to an en-suite and there’s also a walk in closet larger than the size of my room at home.

I push the door open and walk in. The room is decorated in rich blues. The carpet is a deep cobalt blue and the curtains are a shade lighter. In the middle of the room is a very large four poster bed made from a dark solid wood. The bed is also very high. I walk towards the bed to gauge how difficult it would be to get onto it. The mattress is about level with my middle. I would need a step to get onto it.

“Is that bed left out here year-round? I mean, aren’t you afraid it will get ruined up here?” She shook her head as she riffled through a stack of CDs. “In the winter I take off the bedding and cover it with a tarp, but the rest of the year it’s fine. The bed itself is iron and the spread and pillows can be washed if necessary.” He scanned the buildings on either side of them and discovered that with the help of strategically placed trees and hanging screens of flowing fabric, no windows from the other buildings directly overlooked the roof. His gaze returned to the bed. The moment he’d seen it, images had seared his brain of the two of them making love there, covered only by the sky and moo

These items would serve as reminders of happy moments and provide comfort during times of stress or anxiety. The bed in the center of the room would be adorned with the softest sheets and a plush duvet, inviting Skyler to sink into a peaceful slumber. Surrounding the bed, an array of pillows in various shapes and sizes would be arranged, offering support and comfort. A canopy draped above the bed would create a sense of coziness and privacy, allowing Skyler to retreat into her own little world.

Then, I hear the door cilck locked and t the sound of the lights being flickered on. And oh boy am I surprised... In front of me is a bed, but not just any bed, a sex chamber bed to be exact. It's covered in silky, dark, red blankets, has a few cushy-looking pillows. Then at every corner of the bed, there's a bounding strap made of leather, meant for each limp of the body to be locked in place with.

A basin of warm water on the bedside table. And the bed— The bed is massive, with carved posts and gauzy curtains that flutter in the faint breeze from the balcony doors. The coverlet is deep blue velvet, trimmed with silver thread, and the pillows look like clouds made solid. I take a cautious step toward it, almost afraid I’ll sink through the illusion and find myself back in the cellar. I climb in slowly, savoring the way the mattress gives beneath me, the way the sheets feel cool and sleek against my skin. I run my hands over the embroidered pattern, half waiting for someone to barge in and scold me for touching what isn’t mine.

She silently wondered how much money had been spent just on buying all this. In the corner of the room, a narrow foam mattress had been laid directly on the floor. It was covered with a black checkered bedsheet. A single pillow and a bolster completed the makeshift sleeping area. “Thank you,” Thea said quietly, stepping inside and placing her bag on the mattress.
