She sucked it clean with a soft moan. “Yes,” I whispered. “And we will fall into it together. Forever.” Silas kissed her deeply. “The yearning is eternal.” Rook rumbled with possessive satisfaction. “Deeper every time.” Wren’s light wrapped around them all. “The abyss is home.”

POV DARLENE The Abyss was no longer just a hole in the earth; it was a rhythmic, breathing lung of the planet that exhaled the concentrated sorrow of nineteen generations. As Eryx and I stood at the jagged edge of the rift, the Black-Emerald light rising from the depths didn't just illuminate the ruins of the North—it "translated" them into a landscape of obsidian and grief. The black butterflies that had carried Hope away were everywhere now, their wings beating with the sound of a thousand whispered apologies that were never sent.

It is a realm where the boundaries between the known and the unknown blur, where unseen perils and hidden wonders lie in wait. The abyss is a world of secrets, revealing glimpses of eerie rock formations and ethereal creatures as the carriage moves through its depths. Bioluminescent organisms, casting faint glows in various hues, become the only source of light, their soft radiance offering a glimpse into the enigmatic abyss.

A sob broke through my chest, sharp and helpless. “Please…” I whispered into the empty room, my voice cracking in the silence. I run to the window and throw it open. Cold air rushes in. And that’s when I see it. Endless trees. No houses or cars. Just forest swallowing the horizon. My breath leaves me in a broken sob. I’m not in Paris. I’m not even near civilization. I slide down against the wall, pulling my knees to my chest. And for the first time since this began…

His voice thundered across the chasm, raw and broken. “Clara!” And then he was gone. The Abyss The fall felt endless, yet at the same time, sudden. Clara’s body slammed against something soft yet cold, sending shockwaves of pain through her bones. She gasped, rolling onto her side, her breaths ragged. The ground beneath her was not stone, nor earth. It pulsed faintly, as though alive. A faint glow shimmered around her, illuminating the abyss just enough for her to see. The abyss was not empty.

“I didn’t take those souls because I wanted to. I swear it. I needed strength. Just enough to protect myself. That place breaks you if you’re weak.” She looked up at him, eyes filled with fear. “I’ll serve you. I’ll work for you. Stay by your side. Anything. Just don't send me back, have mercy on me.” Asher said nothing. The silence pressed down hard, stretching longer than she could stand. Her breathing grew shallow. Then he spoke. “The Abyss,” he said slowly. “Where is it?” Her body went still. “Far,” she said. “Across the seas. Beyond places humans sail. Very far.”

My ghost trembled on the verge of unraveling. I was dead. I'd been sold to the brothel, tortured beyond measure, devoured by dogs until nothing was left of me. And all of it—every last shred of suffering, every ounce of guilt I'd carried for "killing" my brother—had been one colossal, sick joke. A tidal wave of absurdity and bitter rage crashed over me. My spirit screamed in silence, howling, splintering apart. But when the crying was over, all that remained was a hollow, unfamiliar calm.

Everyone knows the saying, "When you stare into the Abyss, The Abyss Stares Back." Many know about phenomena about Black Magic, Hauntings, Disappearances that have a Chill to it and if you search into it something sinister follows you. My Question is, What is THE ABYSS? Is it another Dimension of Horrors? Or a Realm of Mystery that intersects ours on a regular basis? Or is it a Life Form of many Forms who is trapped in an In-Between State or was Banished from Our Realm because it didn't want to co-exist with new life and just wanted to eat and destroy and feed off of Fear?
