I spoke, taking a deep breath. Everyone looked confused. I took a couple of deep breaths because my heart would break when I will be saying this, but I have to remain loyal to my alpha. "Maya Whitmore is our Alpha's mate," I announced, "and Alpha Kaiser has marked her and mated with her, which means, she is our Luna now. The queen of our entire pack." Everyone looked surprised. Well, it was a matter of surprise, Alpha's mate was so lethal to him that she tried to kill him. Such a precious mate. But no matter whatever she does to Kaiser, without Kaiser's interruption, none of us could ever harm her.

He was still wearing his PJs too and he came to stand beside Jayden as he bowed his head a little. “ Yes Alpha ” He said. “ Get the warriors ready we are going to hunt for my mate ” Jayden said without looking at him and the young man frowned. “ Huh ” He said. “ I will not repeat myself twice ” “ Alpha but she's human ” “ Whether human or not she's still my mate ” “ Alpha Jayden are you really going to....”“ Ryder, are you questioning your Alpha ?? Jayden said as he turned his head and looked at his Beta letting out a low growl but Ryder quickly shook his head.

I whispered, my voice barely audible, unsure whether I was pleading to the assassin or to Alexandro. He growled again. Louder this time. I could feel it in my bones. The assassin hesitated, perhaps realizing he’d made a grave mistake. You don’t threaten an Alpha’s mate. Not if you want to see another sunrise. Everything happened so fast after that, but all I could remember were Alexandro’s eyes. Furious. Focused. And still somehow, protective. Even in this terrifying form, he was here for me. Not as a king, not as a monster—but as something else entirely. As the man who saved me once in the forest. As the one who kissed me before I even knew his name. As the mate I never asked for.

“Look, I was a medic for the guild. Still would be if I hadn’t had a hit put on me. Our old leader is here in this pack as well. Alpha Lucas here is mated to one of the most notorious assassins in all of Cerathe. You can decide whether you want to believe a Cerathean or this washed-up alpha beside you.” I groaned inwardly. I had intentionally avoided the subject of my mate during the meeting. It wasn’t an issue I wanted to discuss with the other alphas. Their only business with my pack at the moment was how to deal with King Jonas. Rory had managed to insult the entire group and announce the existence of my mate in one fell swoop.

If I could reject her and prevent her first death, then I could. I didn’t want this. “Kill!” My wolf urged. Odessa’s beautiful face in the morning flashed in my mind. My beautiful mate. I couldn’t leave her. I reached for the knife in my back. The silver touched my palm, and it felt like lava rocks. The assassin laughed. “Don’t bother. Alphas are harder to kill, but you’ll be dead in a few minutes. Then the whole pack will mourn their beloved Captain and Alpha just like they did with your father.”

A sense of peace washed over me as I realized that I would not be the one responsible for delivering the most powerful weapon known to man to a creature as vile ,savage and evil as alpha Asmodeus Hayes…my mate . Now here I was…a prisoner,his prisoner. As much as I wanted to deny it ,I just couldn’t. Not only was I his prisoner but I was his mate . Not only did he trap my body in a cage but he trapped my heart in the burning desire to be his. Alpha Asmodeus Hayes was not just my mate but a beast that I was sent to assassinate , somehow killing him was the last thing on my mind. Him being a wild beast became the least of my worries as thoughts of being back in his arms overwhelmed my thoughts

He then proceeded to shout at the prying ears. They scurried out and so did the assassins before them. “Get me my beta and have the assassins just now take down that beta.” He said to the werewolf beside him. “I won’t be made to bargain with you.” He boasted to May as he placed his hands against the rim of the balcony. He watched as the assassins came through to the arena and all assumed positions against Martin’s wolf. A smirk crept unto the Alpha’s face as he turned to May. “See your mate finally die.” He said.
