I said, “I want you to set a meeting with your Alpha.” “Alpha Mark?” Anton asked surprised. He knew I wasn't willing to involve other people before and involving a whole Alpha is like declaring war. It wasn't going to be smooth and Alpha Mark was a nonsense alpha. He wouldn't hesitate to kill my parents if they resisted being captured. “Yes, Alpha Mark of the Greenwolf Pack, your Alpha.” I replied. “We need him to help us, it could make all the difference. I need his power incase my parents are planning something else if i try to rat them out.”

There, on my left shoulder blade—just below the curve of my neck—was a strange mark. A twisted rune, inked in deep red, shaped like a claw wrapping around a teardrop. “What the hell…” I muttered, rubbing at it hard. Nothing. I grabbed makeup remover. Still nothing. Alcohol. Soap. Nail polish remover. The mark remained, burned into my skin. “This isn’t happening,” I whispered, backing away from the mirror. I didn’t get tattoos. Not randomly. The only one I had was the High Table’s moon emblem on my chest.

“No. If she unleashes what’s inside her, it won’t stop. That power doesn’t serve balance. It consumes it.” Eryndor’s gaze fixed on him. “Spoken like one already bound.” Lyra looked between them, her mind spinning. “Bound? To what?” “To her,” the being said simply. “And to the others.” Her stomach dropped. “The others—Ronan, Cassian, Malachai…” Eryndor nodded. “The four Alphas carry fragments of the First’s soul. With a grating moan, the door slid open, revealing a vast chamber shrouded in dust and silence. Rows of tomes, scrolls, and artifacts lined the walls, untouched by time. Statues of the first Alphas stood watch like silent sentinels, their eyes carved with obsidian that shimmered with residual energy. But at the far end of the chamber, upon a raised dais surrounded by enchanted crystal lanterns, sat the object they had come for: a scroll sealed with the ancient sigil of the Alpha Circle, etched in molten silver.

A chill ran down my spine. “But,” he added quickly, his voice firm now, leaving no room for doubt, “I won’t let anything happen to you.” I looked at him, searching his face for hesitation. There was none. “I’m the alpha,” he continued. “Everyone in my pack answers to me.” I blinked. “The alpha?” I repeated, confusion creeping back in. “You keep saying these things like I’m supposed to understand them.” A faint exhale left him, almost like he realized how much he had thrown at me all at once.

Mike's voice came out tight, thick with bitter resentment. See? I wasn't wrong. Even now, Mike was trying to shift the blame away from himself. I looked at him seriously, enunciating every word. "You disgust me." I stood up, brushed the dust off my clothes, and prepared to leave. But a group of Beta Enforcers suddenly blocked my path. Yet the situation was glaringly obvious. An Alpha releasing a high-concentration, murderous scent on another pack's territory had undoubtedly alarmed the Pack Alliance headquarters. We were all taken in for questioning.
