Bears weren't as social as wolves, so we didn't live in a Pack housing structure. Each family had their own homestead. Bears were solitary animals, but our human side was not. One yelled and immediately spun on his heels and took off running. Bear let out a grunt, his way of laughing at the idiots that took off running. “Don't see that very often,” Godrick said as he came forward with Bear, making him look like a demonic bear racing through the woods with red eyes. She realized his narrowed eyes weren't on hers but rather on something behind her, and Emberlynn swirled even though Damien had instructed her to stay put. She gasped, her eyes colliding with the largest bear she had ever seen. The bear emerged from the underbrush, its massive frame undulating as it moved. Its fur was a deep, rich brown, almost black, and it seemed to absorb the faint light filtering through the trees. "Don't move," Damien said over again, approaching Emberlynn, his gaze locked on the bear whose eyes cleaned with a piercing intensity. Its gaze was fixed on Emberlynn with an unblinking stare.

But my legs were rooted to the spot, my entire being consumed by the chaos unfolding before me. Caleb, recovering from his fall, charged once more, his makeshift weapon raised high.
