"It's Vee's spirit beast. She truly has divine protection..." Before she could finish, she saw the messy words written in blood on the note: [Mother, come save me quickly. They're going to skin me alive.] I saw those words as well and felt helpless. Victoria had thought that she could pit the beastmen against each other, but she had bitten off more than she could chew. It seemed her recent experience was comparable to mine from my previous life. Mother was terrified and immediately followed the spirit beast out to rescue Victoria. However, she suddenly thought of me and grabbed my hand tightly.

Slowly, the Beast moved to me; I knew what was about to happen; I was about to die once more. I closed my eyes as the wolf sneered closer to me, and before I knew what was happening, I was in the air, on its back, in between two sharp crystals, holding onto them for support as it ran into the forest, leaving behind the gory mess and the seemingly mentally disturbed girls.

The beast was almost upon me. Desperate, I scrambled to my feet, but it was too late. A massive paw slammed into my back, throwing me to the ground again. I cried out and the beast pinned me down. I tried to move, to fight, but I was trapped. “No!” I screamed, clawing at the ground as I tried to pull away, but the beast leaned closer. "Please, stop! Someone...help!" My voice echoed, desperate, but there was no one to hear me. I couldn’t escape. He would kill me. I was going to die.

“Go! Find a healer, now! Tell them she’s dying!” The battlefield groans around us: monsters shrieking, shifters snarling, fire burning in the trees. We fight with everything we have, but for every beast we bring down, another rises. For every creature we tear apart, another clawed horror takes its place. It’s a stalemate soaked in blood and grief. No end. No mercy. And now Xelina is dying. I fall to my knees beside her, scooping her body up in both hands, my voice breaking as I whisper to the sky, “Please. Please, Goddess of moonlight, Mother of our kind, don’t take her. Take me. Take anyone but her.”

The passengers watched their driver stumble back to her seat, heard the gun clicking in her grasp. We’re all going to die, Peter realized. On the floor in front of him, he found his notebook. Grabbed it. Dragged it to his nose. It smelled of his bedroom, safety. I’m eighteen, he thought. I can’t die. It’s not possible. Liz fell into her seat, the gun landing in her lap. The Beast was in the mirror, divided into small parts among them all. They continued to watch. I’ve got to get out of here. Her hands found the steering wheel again. Vibrations.

They hurried toward the windows and shut them one after another, blocking out every trace of sunlight before quickly scrambling out of the room. They knew better than to leave the windows open around me. I was a beast condemned to live in darkness. A curse placed upon me by a powerful witch had taken away my ability to withstand sunlight. It was not merely an inconvenience. It had stripped me of the freedom to rule my own kingdom as I once had. A hundred years ago, my own Beta, Scott, betrayed me. He divided my kingdom into two factions and took half of it for himself. But betrayal was only the beginning of what he did to me, he killed my mate.

His shyness scared people away… With a frown, his mind returned to poor Debbie. Good thing that child-molesting asshole was already dead or he'd kill him. He actually wished that the asshole was still alive so that he could torture the bastard and THEN kill him. Beast popped his neck and several of the prisoners under his care were unsure of what to make of the giant, scarred, guard that smirked one minute and scowled the next. One thing was for certain; the sight of him alone assured that none of them would be stepping out of line.

Perhaps she had cried out to the animal in a terrible bout of insanity, or maybe… just maybe, the wolf was attempting to escape the mortal body that had failed her so early in life. For whatever reason, Gerfast did not give a damn. Her life of opulence, ruthlessness and cruelty had been reduced to nothing but a cadaver in a mortician’s shop for the lowly. “Death don’t discriminate… no, it don’t,” he muttered while reaching into his chest pocket for a kerchief. A sheen of perspiration surfaced on his forehead despite the lowering of temperatures. “Come nightfall and them body collectors do their rounds, you’ll be with the same people you loathed.”

It gives him a few seconds before the hounds decide attacking is their best move. They might have gained some newfound intelligence, but Beast is smart and has had years of practice. Our eyes carry bloodlust, our bodies made for killing. Beast's claws rake a wide path across one throat and chest. It's not a killing blow, but the hound lists to the side and the other jumps around him. It's almost like he's protecting the hurt creature. Beast lets out a growl that rumbles clear to our feet and charges head-on. We clash and the hound goes to the ground with Beast on top. We grab his neck within our crushing jaws and crunch bone. The other hound lands on top of us, his snapping jaws taking a bit

If I died today, I wanted her to remember me as her brave Mom. The beast’s growl turned louder. I pushed Penny in the right direction and urged her to run as fast as her feet could take her. She nodded and began running. I watched her with my blurred vision. I silently prayed with the moon Goddess to guide my child to safety. My ears perked up at the rumbling noise coming from behind. I swallowed down my surging anxiety and turned around to face my death. The beast was already watching me. His sharp long canines reflected the moonlight. He was beastly. So colossal that I had to crane my neck to look at him. My face turned white as sheet. He was gaining on me. I will never forget this ghastly
