The beast shook them both away with another roar. Aiden's side ached as he struck the ground hard. As he strained to stand, he saw the beast stumble and spill blood from its neck and eyeballs. Damon was standing over it, panting. "Is it dead?" With a raspy voice, Aiden asks. Before Damon could respond, the beast was sucked into the abyss and the ground underneath it exploded. The air was suddenly filled with a low, repetitive pulse that sounded as though it were coming directly from the ground.
