The promise comes with a hint of determination, but the visible strain on my face reveals the battle within. Within the five minutes, I find myself settling into a chair at the front of the bookstore. The line of eager fans stretches so long that it weaves through the aisles, a testament to the anticipation in the air. Before me, a stack of freshly printed books rests on the table, their crisp pages waiting eagerly for the touch of my pen.

I came back to my room and waited for the next day... But something was wrong with the Earth... It was rotating very slowly on its axis today. ******* I went to Lake to meet Maurvi. I called her and saw her coming my way. We greeted each other and jogged for some time and then we sat on a bench to talk.

“Then we’ll get your car into the lot and you can call your brother.” I nodded and let him lead me through a large parking lot surrounded by eight-foot high fencing complete with barbed-wire on top. I followed him into the warmth of a sparse but clean waiting area. It looked like the waiting room in my local oil change place, which for whatever reason surprised me. I’m not sure what I was expecting. Maybe centerfolds from Playboy circa 1984 plastered on the walls? “Phone’s on the counter,” Booker said. “Dial nine for an outside line.”

Someone might have created them just like how religion explained our existence for most humans and how the big bang theory was the beginning of everything according to science. It’s a bit late to ask this, but is it alright for me to just up and take this book? Chris never said to not touch anything else in the office, so if he scolds me I have something to retaliate. I scan the pages of the book, but they seem empty. How disappointing. “Come on, Chris! She’s waiting for us.” I hear Valerie’s usual nagging at our brother. “You don’t need to shout. I can hear you perfectly fine,” Chris returns.

Not waiting for anyone. Just ready for what came next.
