************* A sudden uproar shook the castle walls, rattling everyone inside. Two consorts had collapsed, nearly lifeless. Screams from their head maids filled the halls. “It is an omen for a consort to die in the castle,” the maids wailed. The consorts were not just there to please the king, they were part of the royal household. When Kaelen’s mate was alive, the consorts remained, though he never looked their way nor had need of them. Only after her death did their care fall under his responsibility. So seeing two of them collapsed in such a state was nothing short of a failure in his eyes.

Rafael put back a towel he just sniffed and muttered, “I’m immensely grateful Octavia is with us now. You two are brutal. Mostly you, Am.” As Amber chuckled, Christian asked, “The consort’s ability is invisibility, right?” Rafael nodded and uttered, “Yes. Anyone without a fortis’s ability for a consort was fine by me.” When they registered the four different scents from the wardrobes, they walked around the house, sniffing the kitchen, dining room, basement and attic and garage, and concluded that there were six foreign scents. Rafael noted the details of these scents on his phone, and they moved on to the next house, repeating the entire process.

This was the tricky part, but I saw in it an avenue to possibly getting what I desired. “I know no one by that name,” I replied truthfully. Hope bloomed on her face, but it didn’t last long as she considered what my ambiguous reply might mean. She edged forward on her chair. “Does Edwina have a partner?” she asked hesitantly. “What did you call it…a consort?” I shook my head. “No, she doesn’t. Taking a consort is a rare thing.” She must have heard something in my voice, because she surprised me by turning the conversation away from Edwina for a moment.

He was wearing a black tuxedo with his blond hair perfectly swiped on the side. My eyes followed the sight of another man on my right who was staring down at me indifferently with his pale green eyes and sharp and stiff face. He was also wearing the same colour tuxedo. They were utterly gorgeous and emitted rich vibes. I couldn't see the face of The middle one because He was wearing a black hat with the same dress code but the long black trench coat was moulded into his broad, muscular and tallest form perfectly with the high black boots giving him intimidating and regal vibes.

the man said before he raised his hand for the key. Ayo almost looked back to be sure the man was talking to him. “Prince consort? Me?” He wondered for a second before he realised what it meant. “Oh, because I…oh, okay,” he said with an awkward smile as he gave the man his key. “Your car will be well taken care of, consort,” the valet said with a bow before he entered the car. “Consort? Can you believe that?” Ayo wondered with a smile as he thought of what his sisters would say if he told them he now had a title. Consort, ah.
