The Cozy Book Nook Novels & Stories

The warm, yellow lights of the coffee shop created the perfect toasty atmosphere to escape the cool winter chill. Zoe rubbed her hands together as she entered, removing her thick gloves and settling into a table at the rear of the café. The late night news hummed on the television to the left of her, the only consistent sound in the essentially empty space. Digging through her bag, Zoe grabbed out a frayed library book and flipped it open.

Kennedy POV. The weather was bad, but I needed to get that new book, it's Robert birthday gift, who'd knew a grown up man would kill for the newest werewolf love book. I got into my car, drove carefully toward the local book store, they had the new book reserved for me. It was supposed to one quick drive, until I walked into the library. A girl was sitting on a bean bag, her blond hair was covering her eyes with overgrown bangs, she tried to huff them away from her face but to no use. She looked young, maybe she's just here with her parents, looking down at the book she had in her hands it was a kids story. Does she read for the local kids? Or is it just for her?

Outside, she could see the lush gardens and the sprawling landscape of the mansion grounds. Beneath the window was a cozy reading nook, complete with a plush chaise lounge covered in cream fabric and accented with soft pillows. A small round table sat beside it, perfect for holding a book or a cup of tea. Lily could imagine herself curling up there, watching the sunset or enjoying a quiet moment of solitude with a good book.

Together they climbed the staircase and opened the door that lay beyond. It was a small sun-filled room that had been made into a reading nook. Outside the window, you could see the entire estate and the road leading to it. It meant that someone reading up here could see anyone who entered or left the estate. There was a small fireplace on one side of the room, two comfy wingback chairs, and a chaise lounge. There was also a desk. She was silent. The reading nook was like a dream. She wanted to curl up on the chaise lounge and behind her exploration of the library down below. She didn’t want to leave this space for days until her book fever wore off if it ever would.

“It’s my most special place in my home.” The room was spectacular. A huge leather day bed was set in the centre, with cushions spread on it. A large lamp was placed near it. Across it was a fireplace, above which was a large, sleek TV, and in one corner of the room was a wooden desk with a laptop on it. On the other corner was a leather-finish bar. The whole setting was cozy and warm. What made it even more appealing were the book racks lining two of the walls. Dozens of books were stacked in neat little rows, one below the other on the shelves. It was fascinating for an avid reader like her.

Kylie I hear a phone ringing, but I ignore it. I'm having the best sleep of my life, and I don't want it to be interrupted. I'm warm and safe, wrapped in a cocoon. I sink deeper into the sheets trying to turn my brain off again. But it's then that I hear a groan that didn't come from me. Suddenly I'm wide awake. Brody. He is my cocoon. He has his arm wrapped around my front and he's pressed against my back.

Maybe our connection wasn’t meant to be, so no matter how we were brought together we still didn’t end up together. A few moments later, I’d found the books I wanted to buy. I placed them in my arms, then walked over to Kevin, who was sitting on the reading sofa. This bookstore has a tiny reading room with only two reading sofas separated by a small round table. A reading lamp stands beside each sofa. On the table sits a small flowerpot serving as decoration. The reading room floor is carpeted, and next to my sofa are two vending machines.

Getting out of the office later than anybody else because they kept piling files onto my desk, I go to my small apartment. It’s cozy, so I don’t care, and the best thing is that it has a little space with a bow window, making it really romantic. There is where I installed my cozy reading corner, with a chaise long and many colored pillows. I let my purse slide to the floor and as I slip out of my shoes about to take a book off the shelf and already wanting to change into my pjs as I always do, I halt in my movements. Looking down at the illuminated street, something clicks in me, causing a strange desire to stream through me.

So comfortable. I made my way to the library and old playroom, so pleased to see all my books were still on the shelves. I grabbed one of my favourite first books in a series and curled up on the couch to read. This right here is my favourite thing to do, other than nap. There was just something about a nap that made me feel so cozy and happy.
