Statues of twisted figures lined the path, their faces frozen in expressions of ecstasy or agony, I couldn't tell which. Then the palace came into view, and my breath caught. It was beautiful and terrible. Made of black glass or obsidian, it rose from the earth like a crown of thorns. Spires reached toward the twilight sky, and windows glowed with red light from within. The entire structure seemed to pulse, as if it were alive. "The Crimson Palace," the lead vampire announced with obvious pride. "Home of Lord Cassius, King of the Blood Court, Master of the Crimson Veil, Undying One."

I nodded, moving to stand and holding my hand out for her. "You have my word that I will keep your secret, Princess Alora." She gave me a triumphant smile before her tiny hand gripped mine. A spark travelled up my arm as a deal was made. I didn't think it was possible to make deals in your dreams, but whatever this place was, it didn't seem to follow the rules of the real world. "Oh, before we go, I never asked your name." I gave her a soft smile. "I am Damon Bloodstone, Soon-to-be King of Gardenia." Her eyes widened into saucers as she looked at me with such wonder. But before she could ask me anything else I continued speaking.

Serena asked as she raised her hand to his head and took the crown off. “No.” Axl shook his head disapprovingly. He raised a hand towards the audience and his voice boomed across hell, “None of you will join this. For today, this will be the very eventful day the hell must remember. This fight must be remembered and passed on from generation to generation on how King Axl defeated his younger brother. Royal blood against royal blood, power against power, and brother against brother… We fight until you die.” Unwanted chills run down Emily’s spine as she heard Axl’s words.
