The Descent Novels & Stories

*This is another one from an unpublished book. It is a bit dark in the middle, but gets steamy at the end.* Destiny Stepping out of the shower, I walked into my closet and looked for the perfect dress. Tonight was going to be special since we didn't have to hide anymore, no matter where we went. I decided on one of my favorites, a fuchsia sleeveless bodycon mini club party dress. I let my towel drop to the floor and I slide the dress on. I went over to my shoes and decided on a pair of silver heels to go with it. I walked out of the closet and into the bathroom where Jasmine was now getting ready.

Dove said, dropping to the lowest level with a thunk. “What’s it look like down there, Dove?” Chief yelled down. No response, Scythe jumped down followed by Chief and saw why Dove couldn’t answer back. “You three are trespassing and are not welcome here. Turn and leave.” A tall wolf the color of night with glowing yellow eyes said to them. Looking around, Chief and Scythe debated between them who should do what. In the very same moment Scythe broke left, Chief broke right, and Dove split down the middle, ducking between the 5 wolves on front of him.

said Professor Alex pleasantly. “I will announce something important to all of us. But first I will explain our current situation. You must know that the world is getting out of control. Last night, I chatted with a board member from the Hope organization. They think that if the world will collapse soon and within two months, seventy percent of the human population will become terrible creatures due to the 'S' virus,” said Professor Alex in a serious tone. All members of the Jaguar team listened carefully to Professor Alex's words.

Jane deliberately emphasized my identity as an orphan and a sly look flashed through her eyes. Then a panicky voice suddenly rang out. "Watch out!" I looked up and saw the chandelier above me was swaying dangerously. The next second, it came crashing down! In that instant, Andy grabbed Jane's wrist and pulled the panicked she-wolf tightly behind him. As for me? I had no time to dodge as it struck me hard in the forehead. Dizziness overwhelmed me as I fell to the floor, blood quickly trickled down from my forehead. I touched the blood and looked toward Andy, but he was only worried about whether Jane was hurt the whole time.

Damian’s POV The drop-off point is an abandoned half-opened warehouse with a lot of crates and rusted metal containers. “Hurry up,” I speak rudely to the driver, but he wears an unusually happy smile. When we approach a tunnel, the driver begins to whistle as he turns on the radio and loud music roars out of the car’s speakers. He mimics the song and sings aloud, “Country rose, take me home, to a plaaace, I belooong. West Viginiaaaaa.”

"The floor panel is open!" "Then flood the shafts with gas!" Marcus screamed. "Kill everything in this building!" The Descent "We don't have much time," Julian whispered, his breath warm against Lyra’s ear in the freezing dark. "The hangar is three levels down. We have to navigate the service skeleton of the building."

The Descent into the Flame They didn't jump like soldiers; they fell like stones. Leo, Maya, and Ren plummeted through the golden shield, their tactical suits smoking as they hit the superheated air of the Rift. Leo used his blighted arm as a stabilizer, the silver circuits absorbing the kinetic energy of the fall and venting it as a shockwave when he hit the platform.

In its center stood a single, crystalline pillar that glowed with a soft, pulsing violet—the exact same rhythm as the 'Restart' shard. "The Shallows is opening," Leo whispered. "Eighty years of silence, and we just rang the doorbell." The Descent Leaving the Council to secure the surviving Iron-Clad prisoners, Kael, Elara, and a weary Leo stepped onto the titanium platform. As Kael pressed the silver shard against the central pillar, the air around them shimmered. The platform didn't drop; the water simply moved away. A localized gravity field pushed the ocean back, creating a dry, transparent cylinder as the lift began its long descent into the dark.

The elevator doesn't hum. It whispers. A low, hydraulic hiss that vibrates through the soles of my feet. We are descending. Past the wine cellar. Past the foundation. Down into the bedrock of the cliff itself. I count the seconds. One. Two. Three. Ten. We are deep. Too deep.

"He didn't think we'd make the right one, but he left the door open anyway." As the group boarded the sled for the 36,000-kilometer descent, the Earth below began to glow with a new kind of light. It wasn't the neon of the Mimics or the gold of the Sovereign. It was the soft, scattered light of billions of people looking up at the sky and wondering, for the first time in a century, "What's out there?"
