The shadows swirled violently, and then—the floor split.
From beneath the ancient altar, a massive eye slowly opened. It was lidless, the iris a burning ring of crimson and decay. All light vanished from the room as the eye turned upward, staring at them all.
The air became suffocating. The Eye saw too much. Felt too deep.
One follower collapsed, convulsing. Another screamed and clawed at their face. But Nihareth stood firm, arms wide.
"You see now what the gods feared," he whispered reverently. "You see what they tried to bury."
