Chapter 34 Centuries of Caputos have run this kingdom without any type of wars and here I have been queen for a year and everyone is preparing for the war no one saw coming. The kingdom of Witchland falls is my home. My whole life, generation after generation of Caputo’s has stood and faced whatever came their way no questions asked. But as I stare out the window of my bedroom at the war that's coming towards us with no way to fight back is a scary and horrible feeling.

I decided that was a mulling over for another day. I opened the book, its pages slightly yellow with age. It must have been written back in the early days of Fresonia, documenting the life and times of its first King. Even though this Samuel was not quite my Felix, I was still curious as to what he was all about. I opened to the first page, a map of the seven magical kingdoms. What I saw there shocked me.

“For training.” I smiled despite myself. “Tell her thank you.” The maid hesitated. “Actually…” “What?” “She said not to thank her.” I frowned. “Why?” “You’ll understand later.” Strange… very strange. That evening, I wandered into the library again, this time not to read but because I wanted silence. I returned yesterday’s books. The librarian smiled nervously. “I found something else you may enjoy.” He placed a slim volume before me. It wasn’t about kings or bloodlines or prophecies. Jeremy pulled out a white and black designed tiny, thin book from the compactly stocked shelf and waved it at Roy. Roy saw Jeremy coming over with a book and caught it's cover design. A simplistic art with profound hidden meaning. The name 'Birthday Girl' conveyed a sense of aesthetic complexity. "This is a thriller short story by Murakami Sensei.
