Azeron’s eyes widened slightly, not with fear, but with recognition. “Ah,” he murmured. “There it is. The true fire.” The ground quaked, stone melting beneath her flames. The air roared with heat. For a moment, she felt it, the unchained force within her bloodline, the inferno Azeron claimed was hers.

Chapter 13 Set Fire and Burn by Ruth Nalio Angelica… Darkness surrounded me and the screaming of the wind filled my ears. The ground shook beneath my feet, cracking with each step I took. My flaming fingertips trailed along the walls of the building next to me, catching it on fire with ease. Inside, I was filled with more pain and anger than humanly possible. The ground beneath Camela cracked open, and a new flame surged up in front of her, shaping into a figure—a tall woman made of fire and smoke. Her eyes were hollow, and her grin wide. “You can end this,” the fire-woman said, her voice resonating with countless echoes. “Just one word. One act of betrayal.” Camela’s body trembled. “What word?” she asked. “His true name. Say it, and the fire will release him. But he will no longer belong to you.”

After the next few days, everything changes. I practice from sunrise to dusk with Xander, Lena, and a few loyal warriors. At first, it’s challenging. Controlling the fire inside me is like attempting to hold the wind in my hands. Sometimes it listens. Sometimes it burns everything around me. But slowly, I start to sense the rhythm of it.
