Not right now. I stepped forward, sensing a shudder in the ground below. The fire within me was now my very being, not just a component of who I was. It was me, not a weapon or a tool. With the shadows flickering in the distance, I stood erect and looked at the dark army that was marching toward us. I could sense their rage and hear their growls, but I knew what I had to do now. I had more than enough fire inside of me. The air around me seemed to burn and spark as I raised my hands. I closed my eyes and allowed the flame to engulf me, to feel it rushing through me until only the fire remained.

Goddess help me keep my cool and prevent me from snuffing this b*tch out right here, right now. “Only royal bloodlines can wield magic without using spells. Lucky me, huh?”. Flynn speaks up, while shooting fireballs at me. He shoots one after another. I try to dodge them, but they come in such quick succession that almost every single one of them ends up hitting me.

“The fire… it was bound here. This is where it began.” Images cascaded in Evelynn’s mind: wolves forming from sparks and smoke, creatures of shadow clawing at the light, hunters bending the magic for power, and a girl—her reflection twisted in the flames—standing alone, fire blazing in her hands, facing them all. “It’s… me,” she whispered, voice shaking. “It’s always been me.” Aiden’s grip on her hand tightened. “Not just you. It’s us. You and the fire and the bond we share. That’s why it’s drawn to you. That’s why it’s hunting you. Because it knows the fire can’t be controlled without… without you.”

The chamber responds. Light sweeps across the space and forms shapes. At first just silhouettes, then clear enough to feel real. She sees a figure standing at the center of old fire. Then another. Then more. Seven in all. The first firebearers. Their flames rise from their chests like living streams. Their hair, their clothes, their eyes burn with the same energy she once feared in herself. They circle a heart of fire that looks exactly like the one roaring inside her now. Rowan whispers, “These were the first?”

The flames lick at our skin, but we push through, our determination fueling us. As we move forward, the flames shift and dance in intricate patterns, seemingly guiding our path. I can feel the energy of the fire coursing through my veins, merging with my own inner fire. I summon my strength and focus my mind, channeling my resilience to withstand the intense heat. Jericho follows suit, his eyes lock on me as we move together through the blazing inferno. He draws upon his own courage, letting it burn bright within him. With each step forward, his connection to the fire element grows stronger.

Tristan tried to reason, well-knowing of the rising heat of the wildfire within me. “You are simply going to watch her die!” Another voice meshed with my own, allowing me to sound different. From the shocked looks of the three men they clearly hadn’t missed it. The wildfire within me had spoken for itself. “The fire is alive within her…” Alec frowned, gazing at me from head to toe, trying to uncover whatever hid within me.

"Right now, I invite the people who should have been burned in the past to feel the heat of torment together." Ursula was silent. "My time is short before one by one they realize, what I'm doing is just an act." "Do you have time after this? Ursula's question made Celine straighten her back. Among the four of them, Celine was arguably the one who braved danger the most. She would do anything to protect the people she cared about. And because of that, Celine's sensitivity was always at the highest level. "Time for you?" "I guess so."

However, she was in pain from the grip on her chin, so she could not throw a deathly glare at her. Kisa chuckled, "This time, I'll let you go for Mr. Tanner's sake. Besides, I've recently been investigating the true perpetrator behind the fire. If I learn that you had something to do with the fire, then... Even God won't be able to save you."
