Life in the Darkness... My life remained in complete darkness. Alone and without anyone to lean on. I wanted to give up but kept going. rising to face the struggle. I press my hand to him, trying to get him to stay still. “I can help,” I murmur, fumbling with the heavy book in my lap. He pauses, eyes darting to the old book. His gaze hardens in suspicion but then softens. He recognizes what it is. I flip frantically through the brittle pages. 39… 91… 180… Focus. My fingers finally find the right page and relief washes over me when I spot the illustrations. I place the book next to me and take the bag, searching for the right leaves stuffy stuff. I do not know what. At least the book has pictures in color.

I don’t know what I’m looking for. Not really. Just— Something to focus on. Something that isn’t my thoughts. I pull out a book, sit down, and open it. Flip a page. Then another. Words. Just words. History. Names. Old events. I try to read. Actually, try this time. Follow the lines. Understand something. But my mind drifts. Back to Lauren. I exhale quietly and turn the page. Focus. Just focus. Minutes pass. Or maybe longer. I don’t know.

I am 24 years-old. I have been writing books since I was 13 years-old. I have wrote 6 books total, but lost 5 to a house fire, and did not have backups. I lost my want to write after losing my first 5 books. It has been 8 years since then. This is my first book I have published. I am a mother of 1 daughter, trying for a second child. I want to make a living as a author, but also become a daycare teacher. I have a cp in earily childcare. My passion is my child. I love and live for my family. They matter more then anything.

They ended their lives right there. As my brothers' souls left their bodies, the unknown force that had me bound to them gradually disappeared. My brothers were terrified at first. Yet, as soon as they saw me, the three of them were happy to be able to apologize to me. However, a strange force kept their souls fixed on one spot. At that moment, I recalled how our company had been on the verge of going out of business after my parents passed away. Many of our company's executives coveted our wealth and assets back then. Thus, I had been frequently targeted since I was my brothers' weakness.

Pulling my hand away I focused back on what I was suppose to do. Lifting my arms up , I started to clean the wound with a cotton I covered with alcohol. Sensing I wasn't working properly he sat down on one of the stools and pulled me closer by my waist, placing me in between his legs. Taking in a large some of air I looked at him waiting for him to let me go. Realising he wasn't going to move his hands, I tried to focus on the wound. How was I supposed to focus with him so close to me, holding me. I was starting to have these weird feeling in my stomach...... bitch it's because I'm hungry that's why.

This book, anyone who reads it will suffer. Your tears will be the delight of my soul. Upon finishing reading that, the pages of the book on the floor began flipping rapidly, as if carried by a gust of wind, until they stopped at the penultimate page.
