The Fourth Wing Novels & Stories

Then it clicked on me. The door was familiar. The North wing. I was standing before the door of the North wing. The wing Alpha Kade warned me never to wander into. The wing that brought bad memories to Jade. There is something about this wing and I would love to explore it. Wiping my tears with the back of my palm, I stood before the door. My pain was now forgotten. Steadily, my trembling hands rose and laid on its flat hard surface, carefully rubbing it. But I quickly withdrew my hands, putting them behind my back as I turned to look behind me.

I was on alert when Cayden and Michael left to assist Aidan, I was in charge momentarily with the former King assisting in getting everyone to safety when we heard the alarm. I was mind-linked by a warrior who stated the rogues had breached the territory on the southern border closer to the Elvish Kingdom and were taking on lots of rogues. I ordered my men to attack and my wife went into our built-in panic room with the former Queen, her mother, and our kids with two assigned bodyguards. The council was locked away in a protective building with their families and the hospital for our injured was heavily guarded. I rushed out in my armor along with the former King and flew to where our attack

The room, July 4th, 7:03 am "Hngf", it escaped Azrael as he stretched. His once powerful flight muscles had shrunk. Nothing was left of its once hidden splendor. It was a bitter experience that he could have done without. Gently he turned a little further to intensify the stretch. He clenched his teeth firmly, but held the position further and ignored the uncomfortable stinging in his tendon. All of the empty space in his cell was taken up by his mighty wing. There wasn't enough space to spread them both out at the same time. So it had to be enough.

My hands clawed at the floor as something ripped through skin and bone. Wings. Not feathered. Not scaled. But something in between made of shadow and light, stretching high above me, shaking the hall with their power. Everyone stared. Kael’s growl broke the quiet, his voice raw with both awe and rage. “Wings. Harbinger wings.” Lucien’s lips curved in a dangerous smile. “Beautiful. More beautiful than I ever imagined.” Darius’s fire faded at his hands, his face carved with fear. “That’s not beauty. That’s destruction.”

I pushed him a few inches away from me, “…marriage.” “But I can’t leave you alone. You don’t even have wings to get out of the suite to eat.” “Jake will escort me and look after me,” I replied with a wicked smile. He rested his forehead against mine and looked into my shining eyes. His forearms, sinking into the mattress beside my head, supported him; then he buried his hands in my hair. I felt my strands twist around his long fingers, which kept my head from moving. He spread his wings, drawing them into the center of my attention. Nathan’s black wings made him feel so stronger and larger that, lying beneath him, I felt increasingly fragile. Their feathers absorbed the sunset’s rays and gle

My family believed in democracy. Every decision was settled by a family vote. Dad, Mom, my brother Dylan Conley, and my sister Tessa Conley each got one vote. So did I. The problem was, four against one meant I never won. During my junior year of high school, my brother wanted a new computer. The vote was four to one. The money I'd saved for three years of tutoring was gone. In senior year, when it was time to submit college applications, I earned early admission to Northbridge University, but Tessa cried and said she couldn't stand the thought of me moving so far away. So the family held another vote. Dad pinned my application form beneath his hand. "Majority rules. You're going to

Fabian hit the floor like a dog face-planting in the dirt, groaning in pain. His lackey, Chester, grabbed a chair and swung it at me after seeing him getting hit. I dodged to the side, kicked him hard in the butt, and sent him crashing into the pile of wreaths. Fabian scrambled up from the ground with his fleshy face twisted in fury. “Are you tired of living, Mattie? Do you have any idea where the Jeffersons stand in Cirrus? Even having ten lives would not save you!” I curled my lips. There weren’t many people in this world who could take my life.

I don't want to cause a war over a flower. As beautiful as the flower is, I didn't want it to stain its name with the blood of soldiers. I didn't want it to be the cause of destruction, nor of breaking the peace contact that was established between the four kingdoms. It is about 5:00 in the afternoon and I am still sitting here on a log looking at the beautiful tree with its flowers almost ready, I close my eyes when a strong wind blows past me, when I open my eyes there he is again the Iceman, he was looking at me, with his crown shining. His gaze caused me all the unfamiliar feeling.

“I know you aren’t a fan of asking for favors but I think the time has come to call in Hawk. He is the only one I know that has the means to protect her.” I weighed his words carefully. Hawk owed me a few favors, and we had worked together in the past, but I have never asked him to be a part of our network. Hawk had a good heart, but there were special circumstances which is why he was not involved with Clipped Wings. Whiz was right though; Hawk did have the means to protect Ophelia. As I thought it over the idea became more appealing to me because since Hawk was not involved in the organization then hardly anyone besides Whiz and myself would know where she was.

She looked at him. He shook his head. “Creatures of the Nemach metropolis, the place of air. I am not like them,” he sounded scornful, “My humiliation included these wings that would force me to take to the air. Anyway, there was a war. A terrible war.” Ilyria wanted to ask him more about the wings, his punishment, but she also needed to learn about the First War. She allowed him to deflect her attention. “Between the metropolises?”
