The Alpha’s Dionesa
I sat down opposite Thalia and began my story:
“In days long past, there lived a prosperous merchant, known far and wide for his dealings in rare pearls. Many inquired as to the source of his precious wares, but his reply remained ever the same:
‘I played my harp for the goddess of the Acid Lake, and she, delighted by my melody, bestowed upon me these pearls as a reward.’
With each passing day, the merchant's wealth grew, nearing that of the very King of his land. The King, feeling his position threatened, sought to replicate the merchant's success. He summoned various musicians to perform for the goddess of the lake, yet no pearls were forthcoming.
