Novel & Cerita The Handmaid's Tale

Adalia was not still from exhaustion of labor nor did she breathe a sigh of relief, she gave out her last breath. She was dead. An icy feeling snaked up from inside my stomach and clawed around my throat, squeezing mercilessly. I choked and coughed. How many more deaths did I have to see before I finally snapped and lost it? The handmaid fell on the floor immediately, her mouth opening and I could tell from her expression that she was howling a mournful tune. The healer's helper brought back the thankfully healthy baby who was by all indications still alive.

Bianca was dragged along with the men beside each side of her. Anna the handmaid of the house slammed a door opened and the lady was bought in. Her blindfold was taken off by one of the men. Now she can see where she is. The first thing that caught her glimpse, was the surrounding of the flourishing room she was in. She was stunned but didn't let it shows on her face as she angrily turned her head to look in the direction of the maid and the men.

She saw two guards who were stationed at the door the voices were coming from, stopping to look behind her and around her, when she saw no one was staring at her, she disappeared and appeared inside the Queen's chamber. "Who are you?" The Queen's handmaid demanded immediately going into a fighting stance. "Someone who overheard your discussion, why did you poisoned King Reed?" Ariel/ River asked. "I ask the question not answer my question with a question, who are you, tell me or you will regret-" the handmaid didn't get to complete her statement when Ariel/ River used her index finger from her right hand to touch her forehead, she was so fast in her movement that the handmaid didn't have eno

But he's my boss now. “I’m Peter” He introduced himself by letting out his hand for an handshake. I didn't believe he would want to have an handshake with me because I've just been introduced as his maid, he should perhaps look down on me like his mom did. “And I’m Isabella,... Bella daves”I replied back receiving his handshake. “Peter Benson”He added. Mrs Benson cut in by removing his hand from mine. “Come on dear, go and have a shower, I’m sure you’re very tired, go ahead and relax too"

Aubrey nodded, her trust in Evan unwavering, and made her way towards the designated location. As Aubrey approached the towering, desolate building, her steps felt heavy and hesitant. The sound of her own heartbeat seemed to drown out the world around her. Evan's trusted companion discreetly followed, a silent guardian ready to protect her at any cost. Reaching the topmost area, Aubrey's breath caught in her throat. There, in the dimly lit room, sat Aldrich, his hands and legs bound, a captive to this cruel game. Aubrey's heart shattered into a million pieces as she saw her child in such a vulnerable state.

I managed to take him inside, but he could not lift his leg, so I used all the energy a feminine gender had to take him inside. Then a strange thing happened. I felt the covers slide down my body, and then a hand lighted on the small of my back. It was so warm it was hot like the blood that ran through its veins went faster than the blood of any average man. If this was true, it wouldn’t surprise me. I had a moment that I could never imagine. A moment when my mind said to close my eyes and open my mouth. His hands were rubbing my back, and he was about to close my mouth with a kiss, but immediately he passed out.

Yes of course, maybe I had started to develop feelings for him but I was so sure he wouldn't treat me like a human, rather, he would treat me like a machine only for the purpose of bearing children. As the three handmaidens delicately straightened my hair, I reveled in the gentle sensation of their fingers running through the strands. Melina, they called me, and I was but a pawn in the machinations of the kingdom. I felt a certain intrigue toward these women and a deep curiosity burned within me. Really, I didn't need to be scared of anything as I have everything in control now. With subtle hesitation, I decided to ask them questions that would generally be regarded as too personal. Maybe th

Tightening my grip around her waist just a little more so that my fingers would be digging gently in her hips – I pulled her closer and whispered,"I think it is a universal conspiracy. Universe gives me the opportunity to spend time with the girl who has all the celestial bodies trapped in her eyes shining when the nights fall – it's the universe's way of making me believe that – miracles do exist. And you, Shayla, are one of them." ━━━━━━

My hands trembled as I opened the folder. Tucked inside was a faded photograph. The church, fifteen years ago. A picture of me and a little girl... but the face wasn't Sophia's. It was Isabella. The words on the back twisted in my gut like a knife: The one who really saved you was never Sophia. The memory hit me like a freight train. The rain, the fear, her small hand in mine. It was Isabella. It was always Isabella. "No... no, it can't be..." I collapsed onto the blood-stained floor.

The morning unfolded like a soft melody; gentle, unhurried, and full of promise. Sunlight spilled through the gauzy curtains in golden ribbons, dancing across the wooden floor of our modest apartment. Outside, the world stirred slowly. Birds chirped from the mango tree by the window, and the distant hum of Sunday traffic drifted in like a lullaby. I stood in front of the mirror, brushing Hayley’s curls with careful strokes. Her hair had grown thick and bouncy, a halo of soft brown ringlets that framed her cherubic face. She squirmed in place, giggling as she tried to grab the brush from my hand.
