Instead of dropping me to Adair’s house, Nick takes me to his home instead. He said he didn’t want me to be alone despite their being a ton of guards, plus he wanted me to meet Mariam since he had told her how he finally has a sister and she’s been dying to meet me ever since. The drive to Nick’s house isn’t too long. Nick spends the entire drive talking to me about how he met his wife, how excited he is for the baby, and how he thinks Adair is totally insane for giving Anna the time of day even though he hopes that she’s okay.

The grainy recording showed Nicholas, who was a year younger, shaking hands with a known arms dealer she had seen on the television. Her face was pallid as she glanced up at Nicholas. "What else do you conceal?"

When security tried to stop him, he punched one of them square in the face and kept going. He found the clerk who had handled Lisa’s file and slammed her against the wall. “Tell me her new name and where she applied to move,” he demanded, his voice low and dangerous. The woman trembled. “I—I can’t disclose that kind of information. It’s protected data.” Nick’s patience snapped. He grabbed her by the throat, his voice a deadly whisper. “This is your last chance. Talk.” The look in his eyes was pure madness, cold and lethal. Because of the way her records had been erased, even his personal authority couldn’t access her files.

Her voice is low and quiet. She’s Amanda, 49 years old and our one and only maid, she’s been working with us for 5 years already. “Shhh... just go to Elizabeth’s room. The gentle old woman regarded the human standing before her, seemingly fragile and vulnerable, so much so that she could unintentionally crush them. * * * Nick knocked on the door of the house his nose had led him to. When nobody answered, he pushed it, and found out that it was unlocked. He opened it cautiously and went in. He was surprised to find two middle-aged people bound to their chairs. They both looked scared and tried to talk but their efforts were hampered by gags that had been placed on them. Nick strode over to the woman, and carefully tore the gag off. “Please, help her! He has her!” She wailed once the gag was off. “Please keep still.” Nick told her as he tried to take of the duct tape she'd been bound with.
