I turned to face him, my arms crossed tightly over my chest.
He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “Look, I didn’t mean for the drink to spill. That was on me. But you didn’t have to be so close to Owen in the first place.”
I blinked, caught off guard. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me,” he said, stepping closer. “You’re my wife, Aurora. Or have you forgotten that?”
That was it – the last straw.
“Your wife?” I laughed bitterly, the sound echoing in the narrow hallway. “Don’t kid yourself, Leon. I’m not your wife. I’m your fake wife. A convenient arrangement with an expiration date.”
