Amber heard Hazel say and when she turned her head back to look at her, she saw a smile on her lips and she became confused. She walked over to where the man was and said to him, “Can you please turn over to the front cover for me?” “Oh sure,” the man replied and turned the book over. Amber was even more confused when she saw that the book is a real novel and not a cookbook or the things she saw yesterday. She moved away from the man and walked to where the lady in front of him sat. Without permission, she took the book and flipped it over and the frown on her face deepened while the woman snatched the book from her and sent her a glare.

She says as she hands me the book that has clearly been read a lot of times. Sitting down I take the book from her, our hands briefly touch again the strange but pleasant feeling is there. “Thank you, I’ll definitely give it a read” She just nods and goes back to watching the swans. “Astrid” She turns to look at me “Ye!” Her big golden eyes turn looking at me directly, and for the first time I notice that her eyes look as though they are swirls of golden lava moving.

I lowered my head and opened my eyes. "Watch where you are going, lady, you can fall off the shelves," I raised my head and gasped. I was in a very big library; grey to the very core, and only the books had colours. The library was so far up I couldn't see the roof, just a blinding light, more shelves and ladders going up and some flying animals above. I could see flying whales up there. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"

Then she remembered her birthday. It was a splendid party. The last thing she remembered was lying on the sofa—unable—to move because her stomach was filled up with strawberry pancakes. She never believed she could get tired of them. Now she was in the mood for more but she ate them all up. Greedy me. The continuous pecking of the bird on the window made her come back to reality. She licked her teeth then decided to open the window. She opened the window gently so the bird won’t fly away again but the bird still flew away from the window.

I was welcomed by a gushing wind of extraordinary aura from the centre of the room where Dorothy sat legs-crossed — wings outstretched behind her — and her eyes shut. Still baffled by the sight, I slipped in. The aura kept on spinning around her, making her seemingly barricaded from the rest of the world. I quickly cast my eyes around her room and filled them with warmness. Looking back at her, my eyes then caught sight of a big book with the word, “Butterflies”, and a smaller book that said, “Fairies”. Something inside me wanted me to rush right down to it and grab it, still, all I could do was keep watching from where I stood.

And as we ate, we watched one of Lucy's cartoons again. I'm starting to like these crazy animations. Lucy fell asleep and I took her to her bedroom. I headed back to Danica’s bedroom to check on her one more time. I leaned against the door seeing her knee-deep in the book she was reading. I took a peek at the cover to see what kept her so entranced, and I smiled when I saw it. Man into Woman, written by Lili Elbe and published posthumously in 1933. I watched her as she read the book.

"Where is the book?" Mrs. France walked inside the room. She was followed by the three, and their steps echoed around the room. Mrs. France waved her hand in the air and whispered a language the others couldn't understand. Then, a book came flying towards them from across the room, and Mrs. France caught it as if expecting it to do what it did. It was a hard-bound book. Mrs. France opened it and carefully flipped its yellow and crisp pages. The letters on the book were big and cursive, but the language was in another language as well because Aria couldn't understand a thing when she tried to read it.

But before I could even say anything, Lucy suddenly let out a shrill scream at my approach, then collapsed unconscious. Panic instantly spread through the crowd.
