“Double liar. I can hear it in your voice. Where are you?”
I tell her about the coffee shop, the couple, the completely irrational breakdown.
“I’m losing it, Harp,” I whisper. “I can’t even go to a coffee shop without falling apart.”
“Then we’re going somewhere else,” she decides. “Meet me at Cornerstone Books in twenty minutes. Don’t argue.”
She hangs up before I can refuse.
Twenty-three minutes later, Harper waits outside Cornerstone, my favorite bookstore from before the marriage. I haven’t been here in three years. Daniel thought bookstores were inefficient.
