Gone with the wind, I guessed. Ooh! I didn't even look at what has been wreaking so much destruction. I just hope it hasn't come for me as well. My eyes travelled further around the room, looking for a way to escape before the thing noticed me, but my gaze fell on that hands, the hands of a human, those two hands with long and sharp wolf claws. Fearfully, I traced the arm up to the face of the brutal– Wait! Is he brutal? I mustn't jump into conclusion that way. The wolf stepped out of the shadows from the corner of the room and my eyes widened when I saw a human hand trapped between its jaws, saliva dripping from its mouth. Fear knocked me over when I realized that the hand was mine. My eyes snapped open and I could feel someone’s low growl right beside me. Terrified, I turned my head to my right and found Asphalt’s face close to my hand, his canines showing, saliva dripping down his mouth. He opened his mouth wide as if commencing to eat my hand off. Crap!

I called softly, reaching my hand out to gently touch her to comfort her. But the second my fingers brushed her abdomen, she flinched away from me violently, scrambling backward so quickly her back cracked against the headboard. Her hands instantly flew down to her stomach as she raised the blanket up to her chest. I stopped in my tracks, my hand freezing in mid-air. A strange, cold feeling settled in my gut. My Lycan suddenly grew alert, his ears pricking up. "Are you hurt anywhere else?" I asked, my eyes dropping down to her tightly locked hands. "Did Hilton’s men touch you?"

I hissed painfully as some of the hot liquid grazed my hands. My tongue clicked as I looked down at it in panic when two warm hands held my burnt palm and pulled it away. My eyes widened when Zachary started licking the scorched area, and everything seemed to move in slow motion. “There, you’re okay,” I didn’t know how long I had been staring at him, or how long he’s been licking my hand until it completely healed. Startled, I pulled my hand to my breasts, feeling my heart hammering wildly, out of control.

He finally let go and I hit the tile with a loud thud, gasping for air. He squatted in front of me, brought up his thumb to roughly wipe the blood from my torn lips. He held it up, examined it, and then, with that cold predatory stare locked on mine, he slowly dragged the same thumb across his mouth and licked the blood off. Something inside me went ice as disgust and fear rolled through me. My wolf whimpered, cowering in the back of my mind.

“What… what happened?” Leo slowly lifted a hand, looking cautious. “Lyanna? Can you put your… your hand, uh, claw down?” “What?” I glanced at my hand, and froze. My entire right hand had transformed into a werewolf claw. The longest talon was pressed directly against Javi’s throat. A thin bead of blood slid down toward his collarbone where the skin had barely been pierced. “Oh shit,” I breathed. “Yeah… that’s, uh… not great,” Javi said, though he didn’t sound too alarmed. “If I’m being honest, I’d rather it be my neck than my nuts.”

Fear gripped her, but beneath it, a spark of that forbidden curiosity ignited—stories come to life, just like in her books. The doll approached the bed on unsteady legs, its small feet pattering against the wooden floor. Up close, its lifeless face unnerved her, painted lips frozen in a perpetual smile. But those eyes burned with something hungry, something not of this world. A dark spirit, Lila thought wildly, her mind racing to the fantasy tales she loved. The doll climbed onto the bed, its tiny hands reaching out. They were cold, smooth porcelain against her warm skin as it crawled toward her. Lila recoiled, pulling the sheet up like a shield.

The shadow of the petrifying demon moved towards its painting, the painting of the Nun. “Lilly?” Ronny whispered. “Yeah?” I answered without taking my eyes off the screen. “Can I hold your hand?” I looked at him, disappointed, but reluctantly gave him my hand. He grasped it as if his life depended on it. Idiot! The demon shadow was now directly behind the Nun’s painting. Lifeless fingers came in view, holding the painting. And then…a loud scream and… “I am never watching horror movies again” declared Livy.
