I shut the door behind me, locking it carefully, then laid the book on my desk. The cover glimmered faintly in the dawn light, like it was alive. I ran my hand over it, whispering to no one but myself. “You’ll help me end him.” Then I opened it again. Page after page, I read until the sun rose completely, painting the world in pale gold. The book spoke of mirrors of thought, techniques to teach telepaths to reflect emotion rather than absorb it, to project calm even while their minds burned. It described meditation patterns, breathing cycles, and ancient chants meant to align energy with memory.

She moaned, sticking out her tongue as she licked the lower part of my cheek. My back arched as chills ran down my spine, I felt a tiny shock wave of ecstasy surged through me. I opened my mouth slightly, lifting my chin. I exhaled sharply. My mind went blank, it was as if I could not think anymore. I turned my head, looking into her eyes. My instinct kept screaming at me to push her away. To kick her, and chase her out of this room. But, no matter what…. It seems like I wanted her more than my mind hated her. My body screamed for her.

Sharp without cutting. I gathered that feeling in my chest, let it fill the space behind my ribs, and then slid it along the tiny thread connecting me to the rogue’s mind. At first, it did nothing. Finally I spoke, "Where exactly are we mom? I thought the book was to tell me everything." "Well dear, the book actually brought you here so I could speak with you. Sure it tells you everything but I needed to tell you all of this in person, well as in person as we could get. In a sense you're in your self conscious. A piece of your mind that you find peace in." "I was awake though when I opened the book. Shouldn't I have been asleep?" "On that part the page summoned you here.
