I wanted to repeat it until it was true, but I knew I was just lying.

With my heart racing, I took another glance at the book. It contained something. Something living. Mira brushed aside the dust and knelt next to it. Her eyes widened as she turned the pages. "This is more than a book," she muttered. "It is a prophecy." I gasped. One more prophecy? One we had never heard of? I took a step forward, reading the lines with trembling hands. Doing my best not to disturb her, I removed the book from her hands. It’s titled, Sorcery in Science: old magic for modern medicine. Looking briefly at the pages, it seemed this book was equal parts lore and logic, and explained scientists and doctors experimenting with the supernatural in order to test ancient prophecies and myths. I recalled last night’s dream with a twinge of pain. An odd book choice, even for Mira. As I examined the tome, Mira stirred and noticed her hands were empty. Her eyes went wide as she saw I as looking through the book.

"It's blank." Everest took the book, his expression puzzled. "Really? That's strange." I reached out, gently taking the book from Everest's hands. As I opened it, the pages sprang to life, filled with an intricate tapestry of spells, potions, and ancient magical knowledge. "What the..." Brent's eyes widened in surprise. It felt like a miracle, despite the conflicting emotions swirling within me. Lost in my thoughts, I was interrupted as Charles reentered the office, holding out a document. "Boss, no need to retrieve another document. You tore the photocopy; this is the original," he informed me. Snapping out of my contemplation, I eagerly accepted the document, needing to confirm its authenticity for myself. As I examined it, relief hit me. "Thank goodness," I exclaimed aloud, a smile spreading across my face as I clutched the precious documents in my hand. This unexpected Miracle had presented me with an opportunity I couldn't afford to miss, and I was determined to make the most of it.

She nodded, and the relief on her face was obvious. I studied her for a moment. Money had never been a problem in my family, thanks to my grandmother’s business skills. I could only imagine what it felt like to have debt hanging over your head, affecting your quality of life, and then suddenly having it disappear. The relief and the small smile that appeared on her face made her even prettier. “Thank you, Mr. Torrens... I mean, Albert.” I smiled. “We’re quite a pair of lunatics, aren’t we?”
