“C’mon! Let’s go check out the stores. We’ve got all day, and I want to see everything!” With a deep breath, I pushed the strange familiarity aside and followed him toward the entrance. The moment we stepped inside, my heart stopped, then raced, a cold wave of panic washing over me. The mall was filled with bright lights and cheerful shoppers, but all I could see was the shadow of my past creeping back. The glossy floors, the towering glass ceilings—everything about this place reminded me of the mall back home where it all went wrong. Where my freedom was taken away from me.

Jack came out of the mall and went to a shop for purchasing the food item. While returning home, he saw a large crowd near the same mall. He went near the crowd and shocked. The man who was following him was lying dead. His neck was punctured with protruding fangs and sucked his blood. People were talking that he fell from the eighth floor of the mall. No body could see the murderer.

Tonight, we are out of milk. The store is small, fluorescent lights humming overhead, aisles too narrow for comfort. Refrigeration units exhale cold air in uneven bursts. The cashier looks half-asleep behind the register, her phone glowing faintly in her hand. Nora stands three aisles over, comparing labels with quiet concentration, her thumb brushing the edge of a carton as if the choice matters. The bell above the door rings. A man enters too fast. His hood is up. His movements are sharp and unsteady, like his body is outrunning his thoughts. His eyes scan once, twice. The gun is already in his hand.

I smiled. Someone was coming up behind him, a customer passing perhaps. The customer dipped a hand in his bag and then the light reflected off something on his hand. I furrowed a brow, squaring my eyes at it but I couldn't comprehend fast until the customer got to the guard and drove the shiny object into his spleen from behind. I see blood. My lips parted and without thinking I yelled. “Killer!!!!” Hailey looked my way instantly. The entire mall joined too, maybe. The man pulled a gun, stepping away from the guard. His hands were covered in blood. Panic erupted.

Now everything suddenly makes sense. 'My soul was not transferred to the past. It was transmigrated inside my favorite mystery novel which is titled 'Book of Murder' but not as Detective Alice Potter but as Doreen Garcia. ...the murderer.

"Cliff, I knew you'd help me!" He angrily threw her onto the ground. "I did this only to repay you for saving my life! I'll transfer five million dollars to your account. From now on, you and I do not owe each other anything. Do not show up in front of me!" Since I was already dead, I did not want to be heartbroken over Clifford. Still, I could not get over the audacity of his actions. I confronted him, "You keep saying you're regretful, so why did you cover up for a murderer and pay her that huge sum? Is your avoidance the 'punishment'?"

This pushy agent with his hungry eyes felt more immediately dangerous than the calm, known monster. John’s expression shut down. He turned his head away, closing his eyes. “I’m tired,” he said, his voice flat and final. “I’ll give a statement later.” ***** The door to Zhedya’s sleek office burst open without a knock. Miller strode in first, a look of undisguised victory on his face, flanked by two uniformed police officers and a stern detective. Miller flashed his badge like a weapon. “Zhedya Hunter. You are under arrest for the murder of Steven Andrew, also known as ‘the Ghost.’”

I've had that feeling before and it's still fresh in my memory. “She went up to check on Lila,” I responded, striking a pose as I watched my claws grow longer until they reached their limits. My fangs stuck out of the corner of my mouth, ready to devour whoever would stand in my way. “We have a murderer in the building, maybe more than one. We're not sure.” I spoke with my voice steady and intentional. His brow shot up in a questioning manner. “Morinda was murdered.” His brow twitched as realization dawned on him, he understood the hidden meaning in my words.

Matt POV I was thrilled to spend the afternoon shopping with Amelie. Well, her shopping and me watching her like a stalker. She let me hold her hand, and her bags, most of the time we were together. I took that as a big step forward. I was still pissed that this mystery man was able to get into our territory undetected. While the mall is not within our gated borders, it was typically wolves who accessed the mall. That nobody identified or raised the alarm smelling a human in the area caused me concern. For that matter, now that I think of it, I had not scented him either.
