"Nevan? Come... come closer... I can't see you..."
"I can't, precious," Nevan said.
I looked through the blurry haze of my fading vision. I saw the silhouette of a man on the other side of the glass. He was standing in the shadows, his face obscured, but I could see the way he was leaning against the partition. I could see the black veins on his hands.
"The doctor... he told me," I whispered, the tears of grey light falling down my face. "He told me what you did. Nevan, why? Why would you choose a life of glass?"
