I nod and sigh because this is just one more thing to add to the ever-piling list of mysteries in the Ironclaw pack. I do have one lead though, at least one that seems to be making some headway. I ask Priam again, “Have you found anything about Hunter and Oliver yet?” Priam’s response is a low amused chuckle that turns his tone dark as he responds, “You might want to put Hunter on a call after this one.”

She asked, looking to Hunter. He shook his head somberly. “Remember what I told you the other night, Bella. When it comes to the Family—” “There are no coincidences,” Bella finished for him, collapsing back in the chair. “I also found this,” said Hunter, unzipping his jacket to reveal the scarlet book. It really looked more like a journal now that Bella was looking at it closely. He undid a bronze latch that was keeping the leather cover in place. There was no title that she could see, and the first few pages appeared blank save for a rather long handwritten dedication.

She promised that she would be there at Hunter's house soon, though. There was only the weight of my hands and the heat of the fire. The first true test of our return was the Primal Hunt. We didn't use scouts or sensors to track the elk herds through the valley. Killian shifted into his massive, slate grey form, his silver eyes flashing with a predatory joy that I hadn't seen since the first year of our union. I shifted beside him, my White Wolf form feeling heavy and powerful as I dug my claws into the rich, dark soil of the mountain.

‘I am weak, but I can try,’ she says and I nod. I walked up to the arena and jumped inside the ring, making the entire crowd gasp and roar in anger but I didn’t care. I shifted into my beautiful, big white wolf. Her fur shone brightly just like the moonlight in a cold, dark night. Right now, Hunter is in the darkness. And I want to be the light that guides him out of it. He needs me, and I’m going to bring him back. HUNTER’s POV Darkness. Cold, bottomless darkness. I couldn’t remember how I got here or why, but I remember that I was fighting my father… or should I even call him that?

Well shit. I was not expecting all that. The Hunter just verbally spilled his guts and essentially bared his soul in one sitting. And of all the reasons he could be on the run, I hadn’t considered that he killed someone that high up in his guild, least of all his mother.

I nodded to Xavier, he had every right to hate me, and if that made him feel better, then I would take it. I closed my eyes as he raised the knife and waited for him to plunge it deep into my chest. I noticed the areas infested with worms and dug my claws into them, making his body recoil violently. Enraged, Hunter roared. I positioned myself as a shield, but his poisoned claws plunged into my abdomen. Roaring in pain, I grabbed his hand, holding it in place, and with a brutal strike, I drove my fist into his chest, tearing open a hole in his rotting, half-decayed flesh.
