The Rains Novelas e Histórias

Relief floods me, and I reach for her hand, entwining her fingers with mine. Gently, I brush the tears from her cheek with the back of my fingers. "Rhy..." she whispers, trembling. "Don't... don't close your eyes. Please." "I'm fine," I rasp, forcing a shaky breath through my nose despite the pain in my lungs. My fingers squeeze hers lightly. "Don't cry. Don't... you shouldn't cry." I lift my head just enough to see the sky. It is gray and heavy, dark clouds hiding the sun away. Slowly, it begins to rain. The rainwater is cold and soothing.

Its rhythm was strange—the rain against the glass, soft yet unrelenting, like the heartbeat of a restless city mourning secrets it could never bury. Elena sat by the window in Damian’s mansion, her fingers tracing fogged lines on the cold pane, watching the garden drown beneath the downpour. Somewhere in the distance, thunder rolled, low and brooding, echoing the storm that refused to quiet inside her.

Ocean refuses to help with any of the sneaky guessing games Ocean’s been running. I watch Storm head toward the house. Rain’s voice drifts out from the open kitchen window... eighteen months old, dark-haired, solid as a little tank, and bossing the whole kitchen around with Hannah. Rain does everything with this serious focus, like the world is one giant project and she’s the only one qualified to run it. She talks in full, careful sentences already, like she figured out words are power tools and she’s not wasting any.

Then “Rain. The word felt ancient. Almost sacred. Adrian watched as more drops began to fall—slow at first, uncertain, as if the sky itself was relearning how to weep. One struck his cheek. Another his shoulder. They didn’t burn. Didn’t sting, Didn’t poison. They simply Were. Adrian raised his hand again, staring at the water collecting in his palm. Clear, Real. Impossible. For a long moment, he said nothing. Then, quietly “You did this. Samuel’s voice was softer than usual. “I helped it happen.”

Prologue – Echoes in the Rain Rain fell over Ashford Hollow, soft at first, then heavier, drumming against the rooftops and cobblestone streets like a persistent whisper that refused to be ignored. The sky hung low and swollen with clouds, pressing down on the town as though it, too, carried something it could no longer hold.

She placed her chin on her hand as she smiled dreamily at the ceiling, "tell me about the tall buildings, tell me about the movie stars and Beyonce. Tell me about the rain, tell me about dates and tell me about cars." I laughed at that, "well, I've never met Beyonce, but when I do see her on TV she's glorious. I love tall buildings as well, except the appropriate word is sky scraper. Uhm, you've never seen rain before?" I asked her, frowning, "does it not rain here ?" She laughed, throwing her head back, "I've seen rain, but I've never touched it or anything. Look at me, I'm tiny. Raindrops are like stones to me, so if I did step out into the rain, it'll be suicide."

And if the silence is not enough, the skies are turning darker than before. "Lovely, all we need now is to walk back in the rain." My words are not even dead, and I hear the rumble of thunder, but thunder in more of an ominous way. So as I lift my head to observe how hard the rains shall come down onto us, I stop in my tracks. "Azron."

Aurora Rain has always had a special place in my heart, the splattering noise of drops hitting the pavement, the sweet smell of wet mud and the soft rainy breeze makes my heart flutter with excitement and awe. But today, everything feels different, like for instance, the usual rainy clouds look gloomier than ever and there is a slight sadness in the air. I don’t know if it’s just me or if the universe is playing some sick game, but my spirits are down and I feel awful.

“Let it go. You need to let it go.” I couldn’t. I was so fucking angry and sad and a part of me was tearing to be let out. A deep, dark part of me wanted to be let free. “Let it go Raina,” came Weathers voice. “We will get him, I promise, but now isn’t the time. Not like this.” Her words resonated in my head before she took over and the fight left my body. I was so tired. So drained. The clouds cleared and the wind stopped. The rain fell softly to drown the flames of the forest.
