The crowd goes wild, braying for more blood, more pain, more suffering. Athenia lets out a soft little sob and grabs my hand. We hurtle through the cosmos and land in a different town square. This Athenia is dressed in her warrior clothing. Her hair neatly braided. This time, it’s not Darrick by her side, but Vesper who stands out so starkly in his white robe and leather sandals.

Groaning into the comforter, its fabric clenched tight in my fists, I scream. Hours pass, me alternating between screeches of frustration and staring at the ceiling, when a ping from my phone pulls me out of my tormenting thoughts. Walter: Status update? Me: Still breathing. Walter: Shit. Walter: Four more dead. Walter: Not our pack.

Caleb introduces Rahul to everyone. "Comrades, this is Rahul Taraka. We went to the same school, he is a senior student and just recently graduated," Caleb said introducing him to the group, "This is Alpha Ulric of the Emerald Gorge pack, that one is Arnou son of Marrouk of the Avalon tribe, this little one is Aaron of the southern Coastal tribe, you have met Alina and Amelia. We lead the team going to the underworld, with us is our warriors and elders who would guide us through our journey." Caleb started.

The words dissolve into silence. And then my phone vibrates in my pocket. A message. No number. No name. Just three words: > “Run. They’re coming.” My pulse spikes. The message is signed — A.R. Axel Reed. He’s alive. And I have no idea whether that’s a blessing… or a warning.

I shook my head. Before I knew it he snatched the booklet from the table beside me. He opened and read out loud with reading through, "Day 14, Don't go anywhere and focus on making Estefan and Rhea Junior." He turned to me. "Is that what is making you uncomfortable?" "Do you have to read it out loud?" I snatched the booklet from his hand before turning to Racheal and Jenna. "Thanks for the delicious me. Anyways, I'm Rhea Knight, and it's nice to meet you guys."

Relief floods me immediately. “It must be my lucky day, I get three for the price of one,” the man chuckles, his voice makes my skin crawl and I try to struggle out of his hold again but I am rewarded with a splitting pain in my head, “She is a feisty one, isn’t she? Probably a screamer.” There is a growl and the man chuckles again, “Alpha Reynolds, let me introduce myself. I am Lucas, the man who is going to bring you to justice.”

“It’s okay. It’s the rebels.” The doors all around the throne room slam open a few minutes later, and one by one the members of the rebel army march into the destroyed throne room. Matthew and Grayson welcome them as liberators of the city, and though it doesn’t seem clear which one of them is going to be taking over as Alpha, their first orders to their troops are in perfect agreement.

Across the table, River tilted his head, studying me like a puzzle he hadn’t solved yet. “What is it that you really want, Sybil?” he asked, his voice smooth but probing. “Please enlighten us. Because from where we’re sitting… it seems like you hate us.” I placed my fork and knife down slowly. For a moment, I closed my eyes. Now I understand the problem. This wasn’t hostility. It was wounded pride and ego. Four powerful alphas, leaders, warriors, now the princes of this kingdom, and here I was, rejecting the very bond they had been raised their entire lives to honor.

“We’ve got company. A group of rogues is trailing us, and they’re closing in fast.” Liam frowned, his mind racing. “Could they be working for Vivian?” “Possibly,” Ethan replied, his voice tense. “Either way, we need to be ready.” Clara felt a surge of determination. “We’ll stand our ground. We’ve come too far to turn back now.” --- The rebels assaulted just before day break, their approach quiet and quick. The air was filled with the sound of clashing steel and the snarls of their foes. Clara centered on the Heart of Nyx, channeling its energy to form a defensive boundary around her companions.
