Its eyes glowed with a light that burned both Maliks’ shadow and my fire.
I froze. Malik froze. Even Lilith and Kael paused, uncertainty flickering across their faces.
“Who… what?” Malik breathed, his jaw tight.
The figure stepped fully into the light, wings vast and jagged, neither white nor black, but molten gold and shadow intertwined. Its voice rumbled through the underworld like a canyon collapsing.
“I am the reckoning,” it said. “I was always waiting. You, child of both realms, have awakened prematurely.”
