Working out six hours a day, every day, and working on an eight-hour shift every night, took it's toll on him very quickly. Ever since a colleague of his suggested enhancers to boost his energy, he was able to add more hours at the gym and more hours on his shifts, and could still hang out at bars afterward. Everyone else was using it, it was common for his line of work. They call it 'the helper', which leads to other kinds of helpers, for every different need. Even actors use them too.

I said already tired of talking. "Hmm... This one is hard Nicole. Have you ever shifted?" "Shifted? No!" I knew what shifting was and I knew I have never ever shifted. “My friend, sometimes you have to put all your cards on the table.” I stood and moved into the kitchen to get away from the noise of everyone celebrating. “You’re a shifter? How the fuck did you keep that from us?” I asked, trying to keep the irritation out of my voice. “Well, there are suppressants that delay the shift. I believe your lady love is somewhat familiar with those. But there are also others that simply conceal it. Even humans can sense when they’re near a shifter, there’s something about us that gives it away. I decided a long time ago that my private life would stay private. It cost me quite a bit, but I developed a synthetic pheromone that I mix into my deodorant and cologne.

Thalia POV I run over and hugged both Kaia and Sinclair. “Oh, my goddess, I can’t believe you both actually did it! How long before you shift?” Sinclair speaks first, “Any minute.” Then Kaia speaks up, “I hope it’s not as painful as what we just went through.” Aiden chuckles, “First shift hurts the most and after that, it doesn’t hurt hardly at all. I would suggest stripping down though. Your clothes are going to shred otherwise.”

Not completely anyway. "I don't think you're going anywhere," she starts. "You may not be the image of the shifter in their heads, but you are still a shifter nonetheless." She was right. "We must change our plan now." "Do you have anything in mind?" "Yes, I know what to do. All you have to do is send the video to Shina on Friday." "Okay." Tina ended the call, a smirk on her lips. She walked to the wall and repeatedly banged her head until it bled. Quickly, she retrieved a wet towel from the bathroom and cleaned the walls. Leaving her room, she still had a smirk on her lips. Tina was quite determined to make Maxwell hers. She was not going to let Mellisa win, no matter what. In her mind, Maxwell belonged to her and that was the end of the story.

"Sharon Bell, stop being so selfish. It's the New Year. Do you want something to go wrong for us? You can go once things settle down." I blinked back tears and nodded slowly. I leaned against the door, listening as their voices grew fainter. "Sharon has the flu. Would it be okay for her to stay here alone?" "So they saw me shift." "They already knew who you were," he said. "Now they know what you're becoming." Tyra crossed her arms. "That wasn't a normal shift, Kaia." I blinked at her. "What do you mean?" "You shifted fast. Too fast. Without the usual struggle. And you didn't lose control." "I thought that was good?" She exchanged a look with Kieran. "It's not normal," he said gently. "Even the strongest of us take years to reach that kind of control. You've shifted twice, and already your body obeys without resistance."
