My breath came in sharp, shallow bursts as I stared at Marcus's lifeless body, the pool of blood around him spreading like ink on a parchment. I hadn't done this. I couldn’t have done this. Could I? A jolt of panic coursed through me, snapping me out of my frozen state. I backed away, my gaze darting around the room. The shadows on the walls seemed alive, coming closer to me. I needed to think, to move, but my legs felt like lead.

Anna swallowed hard, opening the book to the final page. “I have to finish the game,” she said. “What does that mean?” Logan demanded. Anna didn’t answer. She set the book down and reached for the glowing shard. The moment her fingers touched it, the room went dark. “Anna!” Mia screamed, but her voice was swallowed by the void. Anna opened her eyes to find herself standing alone in a vast, black expanse. The shard was still in her hand, and in front of her, her reflection emerged from the darkness.

Lisa ran to hold Mateo’s hand but the doctor pulled her away. “Ma’am, please. You can't just hold him like that. When I said he was fine, I meant that he was out of danger, but he is still unconscious and should be up in a few hours I guess.” ‘What the fuck does he mean he guesses?’ “You guess?! Come on doctor please work with me right now.. Can you please walk me through what is wrong with him or what happened?” Michael demanded and the doctor brought out his file book. “Well, your friend here probably faced or saw a part of his life that he has been avoiding, more like something that sent him straight into a state of shock.. I didn’t have to bother for long as a book suddenly began to glow so brightly that I was almost blinded. I staggered back. My heart was racing. I was creeped out by the strange things happening but still, I felt inclined to pick up the glowing book. I hesitated for a few seconds before reaching out for the glowing book. Immediately I touched it, the glow disappeared. I glanced at the book in my hands. It was a pink diary. Curiosity flashed through my eyes. Why is a diary stacked among books and why did it lead me here? I opened up the first page. It had only one sentence.

“You don’t get to make silly assumptions about my life. I’ll let you go because it’s your first time, but I promise you, the next time you try this, I won’t play nice.” My heart jackhammered, but it wasn’t just fear. His eyes—those damned green eyes—held me captive, stirring a memory I’d buried deep. A dark street, a screeching car, my mother’s scream, and those same green eyes glinting in the shadows before the world shattered.
