At least, I was enjoying my moment of rest from his torments. “Farfalla,” he started, calling me the name I detested. “Do you know our love story?” I turned, facing him with a scowl. “I mean what we’ll tell my people,” he added, and I shook my head. “Okay. We have to come up with something… Let’s say you were robbed and left stranded under the rain. I drove by and helped you, and that was how our love story began,” he explained without smiling or blinking. His voice low and firm.

“Same.” As they walked out into the sunlight, neither knew what the future held. But both knew one thing. Something real had begun. Not out of desperation. But out of understanding. She really needed this to go well. The three place their orders and it's only once Bryce has his whiskey that he declares that he was ready to begin. "Let's get this show on the road, come on, folks- or at least start to," Bryce rubs his hands together as if to prepare himself, eyes bouncing between Liviana and Blaze, asking for the story. "Story?" Liviana echoes, watching the man nod. "Yes, the story," he says, asking, "why am I here?" "Oh!" Liviana gives an awkward laugh. "That story... I don't even know where to begin-"

This is the real beginning. And this time, we’re writing our story from peace, not pain.

I should have left him in the ruins and pretended I never heard those words. But I didn't, because deep down, I knew, I had always known. Something inside me had been waiting for this moment, for this answer, and I wasn’t ready for it to be a lie. "What story?" I asked. He was silent for a long moment. Then, finally, he said, "The only one that matters." I was eager to hear this so I took a slow step forward. "Then tell me." "You are the beginning." My chest is heavy. "The beginning of what?"

he said softly, “this is the whole story. Not just Hope. Not just the boxes we already found. I think this is everything. From the very beginning.” He turned the page carefully, and began, slowly, to read.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

He began the story. His voice was low and steady, perfectly pitched for drawing little listeners (and tired grown-ups) into sleep. It was an old story—one his own mother had told him, he had once mentioned in passing, in a moment of vulnerability that felt like a lifetime ago—about a little fox who got lost in the woods and found her way home by following the stars.

“Let the game begin.” Got it! I’ll enrich the story with a mix of suspense, emotional depth, and layered subplots — including flashbacks to deepen characters’ backstories and unexpected twists to keep readers hooked.

Part one of the story ends here. The second part of the story starts after a four-month gap.
