Surf Lesson (1) Victoria's POV I stood barefoot on the warm sand of Padang Padang beach, my rented surfboard tucked under one arm, my heart racing with a mix of nerves and forbidden excitement. I’d always come to Indonesia alone to have fun but this time I came to escape my draining job and the ache of a fresh breakup, but signing up for private beginner surf lessons felt dangerously impulsive, it felt like the kind of choice that could leave me drenched in more than just saltwater.

I don't know what I was expecting from a surf lesson— I guess I just thought that it would be more intense. The beginning of the lesson was actually pretty boring because it was just Noah explaining the different parts of the board and the logistics of surfing. I sat stiffly next to Alec while the other couple next to us cuddled up, kissing at random and inappropriate intervals. I assumed they were probably newlyweds.

“He got so scared his knees were shaking when he was trying to stand!” Zion chuckles under his throat, “Poor Neal.” Harry takes my hand so I look at him, “I can teach you how to surf.” I shake my head, “No, I don’t think I can do surfing.” “Of course you can. I’m a really good teacher.” “Harry is an excellent surfing instructor.” Georgina-Rose adds. “I learned how to surf because of him.” Neal gave Georgina-Rose an eye, “You just liked surfing because you like Harry.”

“And you’re going to teach your son how to surf today.” Nolan’s eyes lit up. “Really, Daddy? Surfing? Like those cool guys I see on TV?” Alex ruffled his hair, the corner of his mouth twitching. “Yeah, champ. But we’ll need to head to the other side of the beach. Waves are better there.” The rest of breakfast panned out silently… after which I helped Nolan get ready for his surfing class… ***** “Go Nolan! Go, champ!” “Ride those waves, baby!”

She sat alone at a table in the sand, sun hat tilted, toes burying into warm grains. She watched surfers ride gentle waves, laughter echoing over the water. There was a teenage fearlessness there… the kind she once had before responsibilities hardened her edges. A surf instructor passed near her table. He was tanned, relaxed, board tucked effortlessly under his arm. “You should try,” he said lightly. “The waves are friendly today.” Sarah’s laugh was surprised. “Do I look like someone who can surf?” He grinned. “You look like someone who could.” She almost said no.

He raises his middle finger at me but keeps his focus on Gale and Damien who are filling him in on the will-they-won't-they times that have happened the past few months with their two friends. Surfing is fun and Flame gets very excited and gleefully taunts me when she manages to stand up on her first try, if only she could remember she's been surfing with me since we were young. "Where are you taking us all for lunch then?" She grins when the lesson finishes. "Wait… what? I didn't agree to that." I protest. "I thought it was just going to be the two of us." I still need to figure out how to keep her here with me and time is running out.

A break before senior year. I met him on the third day. His name was Marco. He was twenty three. He was a lifeguard. He had tan skin and green eyes and a smile that made my stomach flip. He talked to me first. Asked if I wanted to learn how to surf. I said I did not know how. He said that was the point. I spent every day with him after that. He taught me to surf. He taught me other things too. It lasted two weeks. Then I went home. I never told anyone. Not Rick. Not Chloe. Not my parents.

"Why are you dressed like that? Are you trying to seek our attention again?" I looked down. This was the only set of clothes I had. It was the facility's uniform, and its colors had long faded from repeated washing. Hugh observed me closely. "Look at you, all frail and meek. Did you purposely make yourself look like this so we would feel sorry for you?" "I am fine," I replied quietly. Those were the first three words I learned at the facility. After all, having any sort of emotion in that place was considered a mistake. My mother, Rosalie, was taken aback by how obedient I was. "We'd planned to pick you up at first, Nessie. Viv had a sudden headache, so—"

So, he makes Killian believe that he can be reliable. Sebastian grabs Killian's hand tightly as they first hit the water. It goes on with Sebastian slowly guiding Killian. Before going further, Sebastian notices the water level and the tides. Luckily, the water is calm tonight. They can surf without worrying about being thrown into the deep pit of the ocean. Five minutes in and they are both laughing, enjoying their time in the water. Killian isn't as bad as Sebastian thought him to be. He is a fast learner. Killian falls a few times, trying to surf on his own; albeit his bravery shows up when he is closer to the shore only. Twelve minutes in and Killian lets go of Sebastian's hand and wande

The breeze was cold, and the waves crashed into the beach nonstop. It was Holly's first time learning how to surf. So, she did it near the shore to ensure her safety. She wore a black, modest swimming suit that wrapped her slim figure tightly, looking graceful. She had already learned the basics from Bryce and her cousins. After failing several times, she finally managed to stand on the surfboard. When the first wave came, she quickly got on the board and started pedaling. Then, the waves pushed the board forward steadily.
