Laslo’s wolf is swiping at Sylas, and his claws connect here and there. Sylas twists his body and kicks Laslo’s wolf, sending it flying into a tree. Laslo’s wolf lays at the base of the tree, sprawled out. Sylas marches to the tree base and hovers over Laslo’s wolf, snarling and biting. His jaw reaches over and grabs at the white wolf’s neck.

Almost dying was a thrilling experience; ten out of ten recommend it. Once Luka calms down, we step away from the door and wait for Laz to close and lock it. Surely, even in a situation such as this, we can't risk the safety of our kitty cat, even in our brother's district. Some wolves act like first-class bitches if they get jealous, which turns into a shitshow, another thing we don't need.

“Lana, they’re lying! They can’t—” Before she could finish, the two male supporters stepped back and gave low, guttural whistles. From the deeper shadows of the trees, three pairs of phosphorescent green eyes appeared. Shadow Wolves. Massive, spectral creatures with fur that drank the light, more spirit than flesh, tamed only by dark magic and raw meat. They padded forward, silent as smoke, forming a deadly triangle around us. Their low growls vibrated in the pit of my stomach. Bella pressed against me, a terrified whimper escaping her lips. “It’s over,” she breathed. “They’ve got the wolves… the whole clan is watching…”
