Natalie hadn’t accepted the title, but to them… she already was. “She’s not—” “She is,” a young warrior, Kane, said from behind her. “She is our Luna. She’s the one who protected us from the rogues. She nearly died for us. Not you.” Everyone in the small crowd murmured in agreement. “She hasn’t accepted,” I tried to explain. “She doesn’t need to. She has already proven herself.” Kane said. “She didn’t run. She didn’t put herself first.”

Getting my arm jerked back Luna was glaring at me. “What did he tell you?! What were his last words? Tell me, female,” she demanded of me. “I just lost my dad, you insensitive cow,” I growled while wiping the real tears from my cheeks. She raised her hand to strike me and I narrowed my eyes at her. “You will tell your Luna what your father's last words are or you will be banished from his pack!” Gideon stepped up next to me, frowning at the woman whose name I had never heard, and said, “Lindsay, Athena is a queen and outranks you, and I know for certain that Derek Blackstone will want you to pack your things and find another pack to torment.”

I stalk up to him and, with my anger at the point of overflowing; I don’t give him a chance as I slap his face hard and growl again, “I will not hide. I will not be treated like just an ordinary female. I am a warrior and whether you like it or not, I am going to protect what I care about.” I then turn from him and stalk out of the war room. I don’t need to look at the table to know where to find the threat, as not only did the scout say where he had crossed the border, but I saw it.
