Intertwined
She was hesitating, and that small fact was everything.
I stared at her, searching for cracks in her resolve. “Aria gets tonight. But what about me?” I whispered.
Her laugh was soft, nervous, like she was trying to resist me and herself. “You’ve had all day. Don’t get greedy, Ricci.”
Greedy. If she only knew.
A stray piece of her hair fell across her face again, shielding her eyes from me, and she reached up to tuck it behind her ear.
“Here,” I said softly, leaning over to flip open the center console. Tucked inside was the black hair tie she’d left there yesterday. I held it out to her.
