Harper had warned her that the first week back into full faculty rotation would be chaotic, but logic didn’t stop anxiety from crawling slowly into Emery’s chest. ⸻ 🔥 Long-Distance Strain — Time Zones and Missed Moments Seven hours. Seven hours between their schedules. Seven hours that kept creating tiny emotional cracks neither of them meant to cause. Harper’s day began when Emery’s evening ended. Emery’s breakthroughs happened when Harper was asleep. Their relationship had shifted from spontaneous presence to carefully scheduled connection. And it was harder than either of them expected. My birthday will already be over before I get off the plane, so how am I going to celebrate my birthday twice?!” Nanako said seriously, “Otou-san, have you forgotten that there is a time difference between Japan and the United States? New York is thirteen hours behind our time, but if we fly faster, we can reach New York in eleven hours. Although it was already dark when we took off from Japan, the sky will not be dark yet when we land in New York!” Yahiko was stunned for a moment when he heard this and then said in surprise, “That’s right! How could I have forgotten the time difference?!”

The thing about the time differences is they aren’t always the same between our realm and The Otherside. For instance, when I was gone, eight weeks had passed in a matter of hours for me. I know for a fact that it’s only been about 3 days, our time, since Ramses has been stuck there. Since he came to The Otherside after I did, I can’t guarantee the time will work the same. Here’s to hoping it wouldn’t take us eight weeks to get him back.

I asked him curiously. "It may take 15hours." He replied patiently. I again looked outside and thought it would be 4 am nearly by the time we reach there as per Indian standard time. Nevertheless, as per New York time, it would be approximately 7 or something in the evening. I nodded to myself and then again, looked at Suhas to see that he is always looking at me. I frowned and asked, "What are you looking at?" "Nothing!" he replied, shaking his head and closed his eyes slowly.

“You disappeared for four days. Then you look me in the eye and lie about being away for just 48 hours.” What does he mean by four days I thought. “Why is he saying the same thing Sammy father said… what do they both mean by four days. Jane hissed under her breath, folding her arms like she was holding herself back from committing treason. “Do you think there is a time difference between both worlds because this is starting to feel very stupid.” River tilted his head slightly, eyes distant, already calculating. “I think so. It would explain the mismatch. Time dilation between realms is not unheard of, especially if you folded space instead of walking it.”

When Melanie returned to her hotel room, she took a very long bath and an even longer nap. The two-hour time difference was beginning to catch up with her and she knew she wasn't going to be getting much sleep the next 48 hours.
