Toby Quest Fable 2 Novels & Stories

After a moment, a black dot appeared, and quickly grew bigger as the winged man descended, until he landed with a hollow thud and a whip of air beside her. “You summoned me, Emissary?” He scanned around them, looking for danger. Beads of moisture clung to his hair and clothing and sparkled in the sun, before sinking into the fabric as it heated, and his lips were faintly blue. It had been cold and wet so high up. “Is there an issue?” “Inside,” Aislen explained. “Toby is complaining of feeling different. His sight and scent of smell is sharper, and he’s physically stronger, though he’s still recovering from a pretty serious injury, so…”

He says as he perches on the end of the bed back to me but head swivels round to ask me the question. I tell him to put anything on. We small talk for a little while while he sets a movie up. I find out his name is Toby and he is doing this guarding job to earn more, apparently all jobs under Argon are paid well but this one is ridiculous amounts though he didn't say how much. Toby has a pup on the way with his fated mate Adaline who he found a year ago.

“He doesn't like disloyalty, but he hates incompetence even more. And letting me get this close to you is a major lapse in his security.” “Fine,” Sofia said, her eyes glowing with a renewed, lethal focus. “I’ll get your codes. But Toby? If this is a setup, I’ll make sure the Ashen Fangs are the least of your worries. I’ve seen what’s on the other side of the veil, and I can bring a piece of it back just for you.” “I don't doubt it for a second,” Toby said, stepping back into the shadows of the data-spires.

*Toby* Toby and Liam were headed home after a long day of training. The day started out with pack training, followed by training with the Alpha-to-be. Mathias had chosen Liam as his Beta and worked with him every day on pack responsibilities. While Liam was the one chosen for Beta, Toby, the loyal twin, stayed behind to help his brother. He was happy for Liam, but he couldn't help the twinge of jealousy at his brother's success.

A murmur went through the crowd, the low hum of voices rising as they whispered to each other. "Yes, I have a mate.” My voice rang out clearly, yet it did little to quell the murmurs that only seem to be increasing. Their faces held a similar look of disbelief, their eyes bulging out so much that it bore resemblance to a moon orb, and I almost choked in laughter. “His name is Toby,” I continued, "and you will be seeing him more often as the time passes. He is the head warrior of his pack, and he will be a great asset to us. I enjoin us all to receive him warmly when he arrives.”

“You know, with my tinkering and upgrades, I can get pretty good power out of these little ones just fine.” Gilly let him ramble and grinned. She’d heard this before. Tobey’s enthusiasm for anything mechanical was a constant—and she loved it. She believed, with a stubborn certainty, that Tobey would survive the Final Binding and make it to the Upper. Her own future felt less certain; River’s face haunted the back of her mind, a pale image on the Sirkel room wall that tugged at her like a promise and a threat at once. “I just can’t wait…” Tobey stopped himself and leaned against one of the Kitsune haulers. “I’m rambling, aren’t I?”

I risked a glance at him. Toby turned and gave him a look. “Damn. I really thought I killed the monster. No matter. I’ll kill you and finish him off afterwards if he hasn’t bled to death by then.” He gave me a sick grin. “I hope he hangs on. I’d love to mess with him a little.”

“It’s my fault?” “C’mon Ash, it was my own decision,” Mia says. “I chose to stay. And I’m glad I did. There’s something I’ve been trying to tell you, but I couldn’t before. It’s only recently I’ve been able to cross over, because of the forest I think, or the boys…” “You mean Fable?” I ask. “Hah, yeah, Fable,” she says. “Jealous as I am that you’re hanging out day and night with the boys we both worshipped once upon a time, I’m also worried Ash. There’s something following you. And they’re connected to it.”

he shouted, charging Miller and swinging the shovel. Miller moved fast, too fast. Like he’d done this a hundred times. He caught the shovel, wrenched it away, and shoved Toby hard. Toby slid across the ice and slammed into the boards. “Toby!” Maya yelled. She tried to get up, but her ankle gave out. She crashed back down, clutching the black key in her hand. The center stone—the keyhole was under it. She didn’t need to fight Miller with fists. She needed to open that stone.

“Seems like its getting more solid.” The mud began to solidify the beast in place, while Toby went off and squatted beside it. “You're so stubborn, I told you to watch out!” He snapped the head of the beast, effortlessly. “Will you stop acting innocently before the animals,” Chang chuckled as he passed Toby, towards the beast he was after. “Life is like a fine wine. Drink, tremble and fall!”
