My mind snapped back to reality and I shoved myself off of him, cheeks red hot with embarrassment. “S-sorry” I said, wringing my hands together before looking him in the eyes. “Thank you, truly. You saved my life back there…?” “Elliot. Elliot Bishop, but you can just call me Eli" he stuck his hand out. “Tamara Jones” I firmly shake his surprisingly soft hands. “Tamara. That’s a pretty name.” “Well Eli, it’s a very fine pleasure to meet you. That was a very brave thing for you to do. How did you get us out, by the way?” The fuzzy memory of him potentially jumping off the cliff flashed in my mind.

“Jacob is your mate.” Adira opens her mouth to argue, but Luna Grace cuts her off. “That is enough! Adira,” she speaks sharply, using her Luna tone that demands the blonde obey her. Unable to resist the effect of her mother’s wolf, Adira grows calm. She slumps back on her face, her expression sulky. They rode the rest of the way to their destination in tensed silence. The car stops in front of a beautiful one-story apartment, one not known to the blonde, which stirred her curiosity.

Matthew’s expression turned solemn and he said coldly, “I’ve already gotten in touch with foreign experts. By afternoon, they'll be in the Capital. You have no business being here. You should leave.” Matthew’s attitude irked James. “Tiara, who's this?” he asked, casting a glance at her. Tiara had kept her head down and remained silent. Maya, her mother, stood up and gave him a conspicuous introduction, “This is Mr. Matthew Henderson from the Henderson family. He’s my son-in-law. The Hendersons may be familiar to you. With assets worth several hundred billion, they’re a notable family in the Capital.” James could not help but glance back at Matthew after hearing that.

I stood in the kitchen, the warm smell of eggs and bread filling the tiny house. The sun peeked through the curtains, spilling light onto the wooden floor. My hands moved quickly, flipping the eggs and stirring the porridge. My mother sat at the small table near the window, knitting as usual. Her hands worked fast, but I could tell she wasn’t really focused. “Mama,” I said, breaking the silence, “have you ever had a mate before?” My mother’s hands froze mid-stitch, and she turned to look at me with a raised brow. “Why are you asking that?” she teased, a knowing smile spreading across her face. “Have you found your mate?”

Anna steps up beside her, a sad look on her face as she glances at Ty and then steps closer to her best friend. “The hell you aren’t. You are my mate.” I remind her, my nostrils flaring in frustration. “No.” She shakes her head. “That bond is gone, Onyx. At least on my end. I feel nothing for you.” Her words are a direct hit, right to my chest that burns as if a wildfire rages there. I want to reach out, touch her cheek, and inform her that the mate bond doesn’t matter. That she could tell me she doesn’t want me all she wants, but I wouldn’t believe it. But her words chew me up and spit me out, unlike any beast I have ever encountered.

They may be acting in that way just out of astonishment, or perhaps neither of them was interested in boys in the first place. “Hi, I’m Wade.” He said in a silky manly tone, making an effort to dissolve the awkward silence. “Hey,” The nervousness in his voice could not be masked. “I’m Matthew, but Matt for short.” He opens and shuts the cash register, looking blindly at the notes and coins inside the drawer. Wade looked around to notice that we were still watching the two of them in awe. He turned his head to Matthew, observing his mannerism.

Zoe's pov I grab my phone and bag and go with Nate to the dining room for lunch. There is already Meredith and Alex waiting for us. But they don't want to eat at the packhouse. I sigh but do not protest. So I grab my keys and go to our garage for my black mustang and drive him before the packhouse so that everyone can get seated.

She asked loudly, waiting for him specifically to answer. War sighed, hating how all of this was turning out. His wolf just wanted to grab their mate and go but unfortunately, it was just not that easy. Not to mention she was upset. "Pomelia is my mate...my name is War from Bane pack," he explained to her, knowing he should just get that out of the way immediately. Bane pack was infamous...not a place where anyone wanted to brag about, at least not in such a holy place.
