I opened my eyes to see a face that was both familiar and unfamiliar. The man was in his late 60s, standing tall in a crisp military uniform. The sight of the general stars on his shoulders made my eyes sting. He stood in front of the meat grinder. With one hand, he slammed the power switch off. With the other, he grabbed the guard by the throat and tossed him ten feet away like a ragdoll. Ariel turned deathly pale. "Who the hell are you?"

Rumble! Explosion sounds could be heard coming from inside his body, while his muscles twitched non-stop. With every twitch of his muscle, a shackle was destroyed. With that, powerful energy burst forth from inside his body. The aura he exuded grew increasingly terrifying that even Thea and Delainey hurriedly retreated. This lasted for a whole week.

--- ### The Siege of the Shadows The attack didn't begin with a roar. It began with a frequency. A low, vibrating hum began to emanate from the armor of the Refurbished warriors. The wolves who had gathered behind us, ready to fight for their new home, suddenly clutched their ears, howling in agony. "It's a neural-suppressant!" I yelled, covering my own ears. The sound felt like a drill entering my skull. "Kaima, get to the center!" Rowan shouted. He lunged forward, his broken blade meeting Remnant’s arm, which had transformed into a shimmering blade of blue energy.

"Charge! Use your golems to throw spears!" Their three horns glowed as they began to run towards the oncoming enemies. The "hearth" of the golems shed light as they threw the spears to the ones that tried to cast magic. In a matter of seconds, the frontlines collided with each other with a crushing victory to the Rhinos. "Aerial support, begin to release the explosives! Snails, shoot acid, and water spells!"

Gamma Thorne let out a low, menacing growl, the sound rippling through the air. His massive frame tensed, prepared to unleash the fury of his position upon the intruders. The skirmish erupted into chaos, a flurry of fur and flashing teeth. Claws tore at the earth, kicking up debris as combatants grappled for dominance. Each member of our group showcased their prowess-Paul with his calculated strikes, Gamma Thorne with his brute strength, and Elara with her swift, darting movements that left adversaries bewildered in her wake.

I heard his gasp before he dropped the torch and stumbled back, almost falling over his own feet. He tried running before he could stand, flailing about as he tried to escape. I listened to his stumbling steps as they gained stability and echoed up the level, before peering over the edge at the beam of light at the bottom of the Base where two creatures stood on either side of it. The one on the right had two very long, thin ears that were pointed forwards curiously as it inspected the torch. Between the ears were two small horns that sat above a thin black line

Reeds rustled in the wind, sounding like dry whispers. "Welcome to the Zone," Marcus grunted, checking the seal on his heavy helmet. He looked like a juggernaut, his massive frame encased in black armor plates. They unloaded the gear. A pair of rigid-hull inflatable boats. Crates of ammo. And the specialized containment unit for the Titan Heart.

Their vehicles were nightmares of welded steel and stolen Phase-tech monster trucks with hover-pads, muscle cars with plasma-turrets, and bikes that looked like they were built from the bones of dead servers. They circled us, their engines revving in a discordant, aggressive rhythm. A massive rig, covered in spikes and decorated with shattered computer monitors, rolled to the front. A man stood on the roof, holding a microphone wired into a PA system that screamed with feedback.
